I have to eat some crow. Last year about this time, I recall a thread where we were discussing special teams, and I was calling it a problem area for LSU. A lot of folks were talking about the return game with TH, but I was talking about punting and coverage. Well, here's an interesting question about last year's punt coverage. I already know the answer, but thought it would be fun to see if anyone gets close to it.

    Q) How many yds per return did LSU opponents avg last season?

    Bonus question...

I think Job Rob has done a good job with the Special Teams play.
Trindon led the SEC in Punt returns last year with an 18.1 yds./return.

Correct on that. If I'm not mistaken, LSU ranked #2 nationally behind FSU on return ydg. I was hoping people would hazard a guess on question #1 without trying to look it up. It's really a pretty amazing number.

 Well, so much for trying to lighten the mood in here!

In summary, our special teams was incredible last season. Hate that we don't have TH, but excited about PP, RS, and whoever else is returning kicks/punts this year. Looking forward to seeing the coverage teams do well again.

What about kickoffs? Or is that included in the stats?

I was wrong about ranking 2nd to FSU on punt return ydg. LSU was actually second to none, with FSU second to LSU.

    "18.85
    - That’s the average yardage LSU mustered on punt returns, good enough for tops in the country. Next closest was Florida State with 16.96 yards per return."

5.95 yds/return? Just a guess since no one else was giving you one lol.
