1. What exactly is wrong with that? Too early?
  2. Well for a team who played in a new years day bowl or close to it (i.e., Miami, that means you practiced for much of December in prep for the game), leaving you barely 6-8 weeks of down time. Then you go 4 months with nothing.

Yeah, too soon and spaced out awkwardly.
  3. We've started that early in recent years. From what I understand, it was to allow any injuries during the spring more time to heal before the season. I've been told we are delaying this year so the defensive staff has more time to teach in the classroom before they hit the field. Not sure how true any of this information is but I figured I would pass it on. TIFWIW
  4. When was the last time we started in February?

I know last year we did not.
  5. I think we did it early two years ago, maybe?

Miami is able to do it because of their weather...but there are other factors that lead to the decision such as spring break, junior camps, etc. Most coaches like to start late because they have very little letdown moving into the summer conditioning program.
  6. That would be my thinking as a head coach.
