A very interesting read about the two coaches. You might find it sort of fun! Mark Richt, Les Miles enticing coaching hires despite struggles - Andy Staples - SI.com :geaux:
Funny. I can remember as late as 2009 (right before we beat them), Mark Richt being a name frequently thrown out there by Miles-haters as a preferable alternative. Another name pined after by the negatigers whose stock has also fallen rapidly: Greg Schiano at Rutgers (losing Homecoming to Tulane will do that). Now my Miles-hating friends and family dream of Gary Patterson from TCU or Jim Harbaugh from Stanford (oh, and Saban, always Saban). The names change (except for Saban's), but the disdain for ol' Les never does.
Schiano is terrible. If you are going for a Big East coach I'd take Edsall at UConn before him. They always have a nice record because they always play easy schedules. He did a nice job taking them from being the worst program in history to middle of the pack Big East, but I don't think he can take them much further. He figured out how to recruit the NJ talent to get them out of the basement, but he doesn't have the actual coaching skill to cut it in the SEC. He's never even taken a Big East team to a BCS bowl, no chance he does so here. Besides, I can smell him through the TV right now. Not even the pots of gumbo can cover the Jersey garbage smell. PS- Kelly at Notre Dame would be great, IMO. He gets some high powered offenses, and throw our defense together, that's a championship team. Cincinnati got a bad rap at the end of the year against UF. They were better than the score indicated. It's too bad he bailed on his kids like that. Piece of scum not coaching out the last game for his team. That was probably the biggest game of their lives and he bailed on them.
