This is a good read on Fullmer's tenure at Tennessee. It sounds like if he loses at Bama this weekend he may be gone. I personally think his style of coaching is behind the times and is now being suffocated by the high number of good coaches in the SEC today. This article speaks to that and how LSU started his fall from frequent top ten rankings.

Interesting article. I live a mile from Fulmer's boyhood home, so we don't see alot of negative info. There are rumors concerning his rise to power at TN. I have heard he really plays favorites in his coaching and is quick to terminate players he doesn't like, regardless of ability. Rumors also exist regarding his friends in high places on UT's Board of Directors (or whatever they call it there). Maybe he has some naked pictures .

If UT loses to Alabama and finishes behind USC and Kentucky this year, and Fulmer is still the coach next year, you can bet your bippy that something is really rotten in Knoxville.

If they do that, they could very easily become the next Nebraska- 9-3 seasons were unacceptable to them.

He is one of the "Good coaches in the SEC" on that list. Let's look at the last 4 seasons:

    2003 season- 10-3.

2004 season- 10-3 with two loses to an undefeated Auburn team.

    2005 season they were 5-6.

2006- On an 8-4 season they lost by ONE point to #6 Florida (National Champs); by 4 points, on the last play of the game, to #13 LSU ( #3 final AP); and 17 pts. to a #11 ranked Arkansas (15th final AP)- on the road.

The article had this: (Which is BS)

    Their recruiting has been fine.

    Tennessee’s recruiting class rankings:
    2002............ 2nd
    2003............18th
    2004............11th
    2005............ 4th
    2006............23rd
    2007............ 3rd

    tiga, your comments vs this....

Out of the last 20X his team has played a ranked SEC opponent, he's lost 15 of the 20. Should we mention the losses UT has had in bowl games, vs non-ranked opponents?

I think that is part of the problem. I've felt his recruiting has been fine too. They just don't seem to develop their players very well.

I live in Memphis, which has far more UT fans than Memphis Tiger fans. Folks here have been wanting a change for a while. They're not malicious about it. They like Phil as a guy. But they just see the Vols' program as stagnant and not likely to win another championship anytime soon.

This feeling started long ago. I was at the 2001 game in Knoxville and hung out with UT fans all that weekend. Most of 'em way back then could take or leave Phil. LSU lost the game in Knoxville but met the Vols again in the SECCG. With a backup QB, the Tigers beat the Vols 31-20 and knocked them out of the national title game.

Phil has not found much love from Vols fans since. :)

Ironically we want Bama to win, be in the top 20/25 when we play them. We don't play Tennessee, so from an SOS standpoint we want them to lose to Bama.
