Nah.. don't get upset with the title. Just wanted to bring your attention

..rank the "prestige level" of all 66 BCS schools (including Notre Dame) by dividing them into four tiers. So he has categoried BCS teams in for tiers:

Kings: Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee*, Texas and USC.

    Barons:
Knights : Auburn, Clemson, Colorado, Georgia, LSU*, Texas A&M, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Washington and Wisconsin.

    * While LSU is clearly a premier program right now, its big-picture tradition does not match those of the 13 kings. However, if the Tigers were to add another national title here in the next couple of years, they may well graduate to that group.

    Knights:
Arizona State, Arkansas, Boston College, Cal...

    Peasants :
    Arizona, Baylor, Cincinnati ...

For some reason, I feel that we should be up there with Texas or Florida. Tough to think with out the gold/purple bias :thumb:

    Geaux tigers..

Florida and Tennessee should not be in that top tier.

Clemson and A&M shouldn't be in the second tier.

Other than that, I think we're ranked about right.

Florida is not top tier. If they are, we are.

    Pretty good list, though.

And if Tennessee is top tier, then we're, like, Tippy Top Tier. I'm scratching my head over that one.

good read, agree with earlier assessments regarding UT and Fla. but i have one question. according to the writer:

"So I suppose this raises a question: What exactly constitutes a "national power?" To be honest, I don't have a specific answer. Obviously, a history of on-field success (national championships, major bowls) is the key component, but the program must also continue to maintain relevance -- after all, Minnesota has a bunch of national titles on its mantle, but no one views the Gophers as a national power."

wouldn't the gumps fit this description better than Minnesota? :)

Depends on how long is determined before this factor applies. Are you talking about 10 years (Gumps won a SEC Title in 1999), 15 years (Gumps won a NC in 1992) or longer? There's been some ten wins season mixed in there as well.

I agree. How can Florida be a "top tier" program when they didn't do anything as a program until the '90's???
