I'm sure Stoops is frustrated but statements like that won't help his cause. Can't even imagine Saban saying anything like that. If something like that was an issue for LSU, he would say something like: "All we are in control of is winning, its out of hands after that. We believe we're good enough to play for the NC is we win all of our games. Our team will proudly represent LSU in whatever bowl selects us" or words to that affect. Kind of reminds me of Stoops' outburst at halftime in last year's MNC game. All you get is cheese when you "whine."

Regardless of who plays in the Orange Bowl I want USC to lose. Who knows, maybe UCLA or ND can knock them off.

Actually, seems to me like the guy is doing his best to get his team to the NCG. The reason Stoops looks like a jackass to us is that we are intelligent football fans who understand the game and recognize true media bias. The people Stoops is directing his statements to are the moron voters and there is a good chance they will believe anything you tell them as long as it makes little or no sense. We can't forget who he's talking to - when you consider that, he doesn't sound all that silly. Some of these freaking voters will drink the koolaid if you just put it in front of them...

While that is true ESPN's mother ABC has a contract with the Big 12 and not one with the SEC. Both the Big 12 and ABC Sports have contracts with the Pac10 so should we be asking ourselves if it is USC who really doesn't belong in the National Championship game?? The answer is yes.

Wouldn't expect anything more from Stoops...

Considering the Sugar Bowl half-time interview he gave last year.

"They don't have the best defense.. :bncry: stomp our defense is better  LSU only has the best Rush Defense  you take that back or I'll tell.. .."

Lord, the orange bowl would be something else with Patricia Carroll and Brenda Stoops on opposing sidelines. Not a dry eye in the house with both coaches claiming the NC at the end.

If he sounds desperate, it's because he is.

Look, OU is on the wrong side of the PR war here, the losing side. People will think that OU illegitimately got a shot at the title last season, they caused the train wreck that resulted in a split title and, lo and behold, they're part of the problem once again.

I imagine most unaligned people and passive fans would look at this and say, "Screw OU. Let Auburn and USC play."

Not sure what to make of Stoops' comments. He may have a point although I can't really guage how much influence the ESPN commentators on those that vote.

I heard it mentioned on TV last Saturday that Tubby would be making calls to coaching friends politickin' for the votes...Comment may have been intended to be facetious but there are coaches that would not be above doing it.

The system is open to a certain amount of manipulation I suppose. Hate to see it turn coaches into pimps for their teams. We need a playoff. :D

I am gonna defend Stoops a little bit here. He has now 2 years in a row had one of the best football teams in the country and yet his team gets slammed at every turn. Last year it was the late loss, and this year his team in undefeated and he has to put up with this garbage once again :angryfire

This is what the BCS has made college football into, a soap opera and beauty pageant. People should stop pitting AU vs OU vs USC and instead start talking about how the BCS has once again turned college football into a game of politics and horsesh!t.

  10. Kinda funny being as OU had no business being in the NC game last year. I wonder if he was concerned about bias and contracts then.
