I gotta say, playing Matt Flynn the whole 3rd qtr. is mine. Coaches didn't see fit to give him a real snap all season, say he practiced well in Dec. and give him a qtr. that didn't produce much (cept an A. Broussard run).

Then J. Russell, who saved our bacon a few times this year, is watching the game. Comes in and boom, boom, drives the field.

    Idiotic looking coaching to me!

If you want to get the kid ready for next year, fine, do it in the regular season, not the bowl game.

Do you think the staff feels they are all gone, so pay Matt back for coming to LSU, if you don't think you treated him right all season, make it up to him by giving him a chance on your way out the door?

I do think the lack of consistency in quarterback play made our close wins a lot closer than they should have. Yes, I was glad to see Flynn get in, but geez, why didn't they ever give him a hint of a chance during the season. The experts will say because it got more reps in December. I don't buy it. Saban was committed to his Senior Randall, and that's that.

I have to agree with that being a big disappointment. I couldn't believe Flynn was in at all, much less for extended action, after not playing more than mop up duty throughout the season.

This game was filled with disappointments for me:

The fake FG - too much needed for first down, so that wasn't likely to work. Tack on those three, and LSU likely wins the game. Could have run the clock out on the last drive, needing only a FG to win.

Going for two point conversion. I hate when coaches go for two early in a game - especially in the first half!

Allowing the long TD pass on the sixth play of the game. CW must have thought he had help? Blown coverage?

The blocked punts. One is bad. Two is ridiculous!

But, without a doubt, the biggest disappointment had to be allowing a 56 yard TD on the last play of the game - and it wasn't even a Hail Mary! Where's the prevent defense??? Should have had two safeties sitting on the two yard line, so there's no way they score! You just cannot let a receiver run free like that when it's the last play!!!!!

LSU wasn't worried about the TD.. they were worried about Iowa getting within 50 yards of a FG... their kicker is almost automatic from that distance. So two safeties on the 2 yard line wouldn't have done anything... they still had 2 TO's and could have passed for 20 yards and immediatly called TO and kick a 40ish yard FG... we just had a breakdown in coverage and Tate saw it and fired. Game, set, match.

If CW would have gone for the tackle and not the ball on the 6th play of the game, we will never know.... he has been guilty of this before...

If our special teams would have been prepared for the pressure Iowa brings on punts... they do it more than anyone in the SEC... then..., we will never know

If JR hadn't spiked the ball on first and bled the clock down then Tate may have never got another shot at the "Miracle in Orlando".

All the if's in the world won't change it, leave it on the field, the players did Im sure, so I think we should.

Therein lies the problem, with only 8 seconds left in the game they should have been worried about the TD. No question, that was the last play of the game.

They should have been worried about the TD! A 20 yard gain would have left them a 53 yard attempt, not 40ish - if they had time left. Iowa needed 23 yard to get to within a 50 yard FG. There were seven seconds left when the ball was snapped. I think they should have put in seven defensive backs and rushed three or four. Then, have the cornerbacks take away the sidelines. Make 'em throw it to the middle. Keep all of the receivers in front of you. Let 'em catch it and then tackle like a muthu! tick, tick, tick. Clock shows zero. Game over.

there were 14 seconds left when they scored the TD, that is plenty enough time for a medium range pass and TO.

Dude, I'm sorry, but there was not 14 seconds left when they scored. If there was any time at all, they would have kicked the PAT and then kicked off to LSU! The clock hit 0:00 before the dude even caught the ball!
