This doesn't suprise me at all. For all the talk of the great offensive players Saban recruited, there were just as many & more defensive ones.

We're just all excited about the offense because 1) it's usually more fun to watch & 2) we didn't have one last year.

We have talent in depth on offense and defense. I sure hope the coach is right about the kickers. They have a lot to prove this year.

i think he may be talking about the statement about the backers being the strength of the defense. that part did supriseme because i thought the d-line would be the strength and secondary second. there has been a lot printed by a lot of sources saying the different players would be starters but i guess miles pretty much set that strait. i'm excited for kuale because he seemed to have problems getting lost in saban's defense but has tremendous ability, i assume with the new defense he can just react and use his talent.

I think we have four studs at linebacker in Kuale, Hollis, Vaughn, and Highsmith. But our depth after that will need to develop fast.

Alot has been said and written about how Pelini's defense is less ( But is it miles less complicated ? ) complicated than Saban's. However, lets not forget how great our defenses were under Saban. Perhaps it was the complexity that made it so difficult for offenses to have success. Not saying we won't have a good defense this year but you can't ignore the success of Saban's defenses. Sure players missed assignments at times, but overall they were pretty darn good. Time to stop speculating and see some axn !

Nicks defenses featured a lot of deception. Several opposing quarterbacks have commented on how confusing the LSU defense was. On the other hand LSU got caught out of position and burned for big plays from time to time.

It's all a question of balance. I suspect Pellini is experienced enough to mix deception and blitzing into a good solid defense with everyone in the right place.

That is a surprising statement to me. I consider our LB's to be the weakest part on our defense. If Miles thinks they are the strongest part of the team then damn, this year will be really special.
