Tax on "Cadillac Health Plans"

    Sounds great on paper but how do you address these crazy med plans with $10 co-pays and anything/everything covered? The unions collectively bargained for these unrealistic plans. They are not going to give it up. The only way is to tax these plans and/or penalize people for going to the doctor with a hang nail.

    is the tax on the margins? if so then its less substantial, obviously, but if it is not, then these plans will just adjust the premium (and coverage) slightly to just under the stated amount.

    i see the move as typical politics--nothing wrong with making a deal but i dont like the deal. if he wants to appease the unions then dont just exempt the unions but make some other qualification that would include the unions---something like tax the cadillac premiums of those making a certain income.
