yeah and we still use that under Coach Saban at LSU. it's not Jamarcus State U. It's not Randall University. Look at it this way. Check out how OLE MISS is floundering. ( OK they beat Vandy ) But how many REPS did their second QB get last year behind Eli manning? answer: not many Why? because they needed manning in the game THAT year to win. Even Cutcliff ( Ray Charles ) could see this. He wasn't playing for NEXT YEAR. AND look they are paying for it this year. So why didn't he let the other guy get some reps? ANSWER. ALL OF lefire: games were critical ( no blow outs ) Coach Cutcliff couldn't afford to pull him out BECAUSE HE NEEDED HIM IN THE GAME. :dis: Playing for next year is about the most ignorant reason for playing a QB that I've ever seen posted. if your going to "promote" Jamarcus over Randall, quit using the "for next year" reasoning. It is extremely un- football and borders on something USC's coach Carrol would come up with. The ONLY reasoning should be perfromance on the field ( the business world calls this results ) this brings us to the question... Who is better? JR or MR? I can't answer that one. I've seen positives and negatives in both QB's playing. I do know you never pull a QB if he is doing well. CNS knows this too, but hind sight is 20/20. I also don't know why our O line is gettin beat around the end and trapped so much when they should be man-handling the opposition. We're still a dahm good team. And now we have a little humility, I hope. I would not want to be MOO U this week!
I wouldn't want to be MissST either, I figure they will get a more focused group of Tigers who will play with a little more spirit. I haven't mentioned it much on other threads, but the O line has to improve for our offense to work. I'm not sure if it is because we are facing better prepared teams or not, but that is one area we need some to see some improved play. I said after the OREst game that would should expect to see the other team's best effort every week, and that will continue to be the case the rest of the season. Last year we were able to catch a lot of teams unprepared, this year they are all gunning to take us down. Even still, it was a 1 pt loss to a talented nationally ranked team. It's nothing to be ashamed of and something I'm sure LSU will build on.
PASSING GP Effic Att-Cmp-Int Pct Yds TD Lng Avg/G --------------------------------------------------------------- JaMarcus Russel 3 125.71 56-24-1 42.9 419 4 42 139.7 Marcus Randall 3 102.59 34-16-1 47.1 170 2 23 56.7 Russell's ability to throw the ball downfield gives us a better chance at keeping the defenses honest. Without a ledgitimate deep passing threat, every team will stack the line of scrimmage. With Randall in the game, our offense is too one-deminsional. Someone made a comment to me saying that I "wouldn't be satisfied until we ran a PAC-10 offense" because I said Russell was the better passer and then he made a comment that a running game wears down the defense, etc. Well...guess what?!?!? With Broussard and Vincent and the rest of our RB's, we HAVE a power running game and that running game will only get even MORE effective with a QB behind center that can throw the ball downfield. I don't care if he misses the open receiver from time-to-time, but as a defense, you HAVE to account for the deep passing game if the offense will show that they will throw there. But the BOTTOM LINE for ME at this point is that I'm tired of seeing 2 QB's rotate in and out. I understand Saban's reason for doing it, but I'm ready for him to make a choice. In my PERSONAL opinion (and I don't give a rats' arse what anyone has to say about MY OPINION), I favor Russell. But I'm not on Saban's staff, and if Randall is the starter, then as a lifelong diehard LSU fan, I will support whomever is on the field and wears purple and gold. :geaux:
It was me, and I'll admit I went a little too far with the PAC10 thing. I also agree that I would support either QB that Saban throws out there. I'm not a big fan of the two QB system, it's just my opinion that Randell is the better starter and Russell should see plenty of playing time in the games this year. I do think this current QB situation will work itself out, I doubt Saban wants to put the team in a position to lose. If Russell is not starting, there has to be a reason for it. It's all subjective anyway. We all know Russell has more raw talent, but for some reason Russell is not proving to Saban that he should be the starter. None of know for sure, because we are not at practice. I really do feel that our O will come together, and start performing as well as they did last season. It will start with the offensive line. The running/passing thing works both ways. If you can run, the D stacks the line and forces you to beat them outside. AU did a good job of not giving up the big plays, and I think it limited what we could do on O. MissSt shouldn't be nearly as prepared or tough as AU, and I'm sure our O will look a lot better.
