The comparison between republican and democrat punishment in this context is irrelevant. If this happens to any other random guy, people figure out what happens, random guy goes to jail and the story never makes it past the local news. The fact that politicians, and athletes for that matter, get special treatment in the justice system is stupid, period.
OK, how about Vitter? He transgressed, underwent public pressure, did not resign, and is fighting tooth and nail to stay in office. The media is NOT hounding him in any way that I see.
As someone who's visited Arlington, I was a bit surprised by the amount of hoopla that surrounds the Kennedy burial plot there. It rests on a hill that has a most breath-taking view of Washington D.C.'s most famous landmarks. Stunning. So, Ted Kennedy served and he's being buried there, too. But what about Jackie O? She's up there right next to her philandering first husband. Why?
Good point, but his case has been the exception to the rule. He was hounded mercilessly when the story broke, but the wolves got bored when it became clear he wasn't going to follow the script.
Not to Charlie Boy. Anyone who votes for that a$$hat when he isn't running against Billy Tauzin Jr. is at least half retarded.
Surviving spouses of those already buried at Arlington can be buried there as well. Arlington National Cemetery:: Funeral Information
The first time I visited Arlington (as a kid) I stopped by the plot to see the flame, etc. Since then (as an adult) I don't even bother walking by as there are many more important sites to visit than the Kennedy clan. It's amazing how we fought to become our own nation only to have many sheep follow and treat the Kennedys as royalty. I don't get it. :nope: NO MORE KINGS!
I was thinking that yesterday, myself. Our founding fathers didn't want there to be royalty in America, but modern Americans crave having someone to idolize, and the Kennedy family is definitely American royalty.
