Re: UT Threatened to Forfiet if Game Not Moved Big deal. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. There will be no hurricane asterisks in the stats. LSU has a bigger "excuse" if we wanted one.
Re: UT Threatened to Forfiet if Game Not Moved I don't for one second believe this. UT and Fulmer knows how important one SEC game is in determining the SEC East Title. IMO, this is just another try by UT to slam LSU and anyone assosiated with the AD department for making them NOT play away from Baton Rouge, especially Knoxville.
bigbadlee10, Are you honestly suggesting that our AD and Chancellor are more concerned with logistics than safety? Newsflash, WE LIVE HERE, OUR safety comes first, and if we aren't being evacuated then clearly it's ok. All Baton Rouge is gonna get outta this is rain and wind, and it won't be THAT bad, more then usual of course but nothing hurricane force, we are 100 miles inland(from the gulf). Planes can fly in rain, I've seen it, they can fly in wind, seen that too. And if they were worried that much about flying in to Baton Rouge, fly to jackson and bus the couple of hours! There is no reason to talk about forfeit, moving the game to Sunday is fine, which is what our AD wanted, but Monday is full school and this is no MAC team where that's ok, we have 35,000 on campus with horrid traffic on a normal day, much less with a usual 120,000 total on gameday. We had a temporary morgue in the basement of our basketball arena and you DARE say we are more concerned with logistics! They merely said, as you pointed out in your quotes, that they would PREFER to have played it either Saturday or SUNDAY, but Monday was an issue. In addition, your AD did not get paraphrased after the fact, during an interview he stated, per the Tennesseanan, "we were fully prepared to forfeit the game if it were not postponed". So yes he did say it after the rescheduling was released. I would say Im not trying to flame you, but the comments are so obtuse that your orange glasses must be bifocals! :angryfire
I wonder what the VOls would have done if LSU would have called their bluff. One of my friends told me that the real reason the VOLS wanted to cancel was because they were afraid that they might not make their payroll. :hihi:
My favorite part was seeing Fatty Phil on the news last night whinning saying, "if they are moving people out of LA I dont see why we should be going in." You could tell he was trying to delay the beating until the end of the year! I so enjoyed us beating them twice last year. I flew my flags all season just to rub it in their faces. I didnt hate them so much until one smarted off to me last season, and you just dont piss off a pregnant Auburn lady! WAR DAMN EAGLE!! Beat the VOLS! Monday, Tuesday or any day!
Have you people visited VolTalk.com? They have a section called "Note to all LSU fans" where an admin states: ...."we don't condone flaming of anyone and while we would like to talk a little smack and have some fun with it, we also want to keep it respectful." Then under the topic 'What Skip Bertman Actually Said...' one of THEIR ADMINS named XL Vol says: "At no time has that goober Skippy shown concern for UT or its fans in any way. I have no idea why you want so badly for us to think Skippy is not a goober. I didn't even know who he was until this week. Now I realize he's the second biggest goober in the state, next to Nagin." So much for the respectful part from these a$$wipes. I always wondered what it was that made Tennessee the most hated team and fan base in the SEC. Now I see why after reading several of their posts. They're not even creative in their smack. They remind of a bunch of inbreds from the movie 'Deliverance.' They are so tired and lame it's sad.
I had to stop reading that forum. They are so uninformed over there. They are in their own little orange world. I guess they just don't realize that they are alone in the SEC in their opinions. If they wouldn't have bitched all week about the game time at night, they may have had more people that were sympathetic...
This Morning's Advocate has an article where Tennessee officials say they were "misquoted" and that they had no intention of forfeiting. Sure. http://www.2theadvocate.com/stories/092405/lsu_tigers001.shtml
I think Tennessee can thank Mr. Fulmer for making their team look like completely jackasses to the nation.
