Like I said I would trust my senior. If Poche says he's good.....pitch him....if he says he needs another day then hope for the best with whoever.
Gilbert won't be available to start tomorrow or Tuesday. Who would your starter be Monday if not Poche? Great soundbite. Sounds like something some famous coach would be remembered for saying. Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling would have both benefited from ZERO DAYS REST in Game 7 of the 2001 World Series. Both pitched very well in that game and the D Backs won. Poche will have had 4 days rest. At the next level that will be his normal rest between starts. Better to get used to it now.
Lange on short rest on day 3 so game 2 isn't an option. I like it... Just get to game 3. We steal one on Monday we better win it all.
Singer game 1 so we are conceding with wholestaff. And if we are in a close game we could blow through the pen chasing a win for 5 innings including Hess and newman. But we likely lose anyhow with the risk of blowing the pen out completely. I'd go Poche then the outcome determines what to do game 2.
So you're throwing in the towel for a game? Typical coming from you. Do us a favor and post less. Better yet, don't post at all.
Why isn't Lange an emergency option (emergency being a game 1 loss) Baseball history is full of examples of great pitching performances on short rest. Orel Hershiser for one won 3 World Series games for the Dodgers. And have you ever heard the expression "Spahn, Sain and pray for rain?" I would love to see rainouts on Monday and Tuesday but I don't think that's in the forecast.
He could be but I suspect that the staff knows Lange needs his rest to be highly effective and give him the highest chance of playing deep into a game on short rest. If it ain't broke don't fix it mentality which I usually agree with.
