Ok, so everyone that complained about having to pay extra for season tickets, now you can realize that your not alone. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/2004-08-24-tickets-cover_x.htm Go 3/4 the way down the page to find... Nearly every school ranked among the top 25 in the preseason USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches' Poll requires an annual donation to gain the privilege of buying season tickets. No. 1 Southern California All seats between end zones, except for student and faculty tickets, require membership in one of the booster clubs. Minimum donation is $100 for Women's Trojan Club, but seats in "gold" sections, near midfield, require annual membership in Scholarship Club, which will cost $25,000 for 2004 and gives donor right to buy up to eight season tickets. No. 2 Oklahoma Does not require donation for season tickets in any particular seats, but seating locations are determined in part by giving records. No. 3 LSU Expanding its program this year from 19,000 season tickets to 61,000. Contributions range from $85 for each end-zone seat to $400 a seat on the sidelines between 25-yard lines. No. 4 Georgia Season ticketholders must contribute at least $200 a seat to earn right to keep seats, and renewing season ticketholders get priority before tickets are made available to public. For 2004, renewing ticketholders bought out stadium, so essentially all season tickets go to contributors. No. 5 Miami (Fla.) Virtually all seats in stadium's lower bowl require an annual donation, with contributions ranging from $150 to $15,000. Amount of donation determines seating location.
Tulane will sell you 4 season tix for $180 if anyone wants to complain. You get what you pay for. :tigerhead
And LSU's price is still reasonable compared to some other SEC teams!! Florida ... Virtually all season ticketholders are contributors to booster groups. Because of heavy demand, new season ticketholders are encouraged to join Varsity Club, at a minimum of $1,200 a year, which qualifies the donor to buy up to two tickets. Tennessee ... Expanded the program that required donations for most seats to include some longtime season ticketholders who thought they had been grandfathered from such charges. By 2006, those ticketholders will have to pay $500 to $1,500 a seat annually to keep their tickets between end zones. Auburn ... Most seats between end zones require annual donation of at least $300 (for two seats) to Tigers Unlimited Fund. A $1,500 contribution earns right to buy up to 10 seats.
a required "donation" is just ridiculous.. i would like to one day have some good season tickets to LSU games, but there's no way someone on a a teacher's salary can afford the cost of tickets and "donations"
I don't know why the schools don't just get off the pot and call these "donations" what they really are...personal seat licenses.
I would donate for my seats but I think they should be free. Football entertainment was established to be free to view initially and the whole premise is lost once people start actually giving money to view something you can see on TV for free. Therefore, I cannot bring myself to donate at this time or any other time for that matter. thanks.
