The offense looks like and should be even more explosive next season, but what about the defense? Take a look at it: At DT we lose DT Dorsey at tackle Drake Nevis is looking great as a true freshman and returning are Alexander and Favorite, both more than solid players, along with big Al Woods. Dorsey is a big lose but we still look solid and i am very exited about the play of Nevis. At DE we lose Kirsten Pittman. Returning are Tyson Jackson, Ricky Jean Francois is back! Rahim Alem has been coming on as has Tremaine Johnson. If anything we look better. At Linebacker we lose Sanders and Highsmith. Returning starter will be Beckwith. Highsmith will be hard to replace but Perry Riley dosnt look like much of a drop off, if any at all. Jacob Cutrera could be a good replacement for Sanders, not as strong, but definetely more agile. Also Kelvin Sheppard returns. Look for some one to be moved to the linebacker spot for added depth such as Shommari Clemons, Ridley, Coleman. Again at linebacker we lose a lot of experience but no drop off in talent. Cornerback will be tough. We lose a ton of experience in Zenon and Jackson. But we gain a lot of athletism in Jai Eugene, Phelon Jones , Chris Hawkins and remember John Williams. At safety Chad Jones steps in for Steltz and Curtis Taylor returns along with Danny McCray. Safety position looks really strong. In all, the defense will be replacing a lot of players, but dont call it a rebuilding year. We have plenty of talent returning at all positions on defense. Might take a little time to jell but they are going to be as good, and by the end of the season, better than this season. The rest of the SEC better look out if they really think we are going to be hurting on defense next year. With all the talk about LSU dropping off next season, i cant wait untill this defense smacks em in the mouth.
And if we are able to get a few big time recruits like Patrick Johnson and Arthur Brown, those guys could definitely start as true freshmen. The talent level won't drop off after this year, but we will be losing a lot of experience.
I think we'll be OK next year...obviously not to the level of this season, but still very good...we,ll see, lets get through this one first. I will say this much, whomever steps into Dorsey's spot has some "BIG" shoes to fill. :tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye::tigereye:
