You have to give credit to Iona for having a unique mascot. I admit my ignorance on the topic of Gaels. I was picturing something in the 'Braveheart' mold until I saw the maroon leprechaun grinning at me from between the Tigers' eyes. So I checked it out on the Wikipdia and learned that the Gaels were a subgroup of the Celtics. Still that damn leprechaun looks too happy to play physical in the paint. I say Big Baby has his way with these guys.:geauxtige
When I saw the Iona mascot on LSUSports.net, my first thought was it looked like a deranged version of the Lucky Charms leprechaun.
Boxscores from Iona's 3 games against good D-1 competition.. IA State, Seton Hall and Kentucky: Seton Hall http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=253652550 UK http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=253570096 IA State http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=253300066 They won against IA State, competed against Kentucky (sans Randolph Morris) and lost by 14 against Seton Hall. Steve Burtt is their scorer, but he only averaged 33.8% from the field during that stretch... (22/65) Soliver is a much better shooter, going 20 of 44 (45%) during that same stretch. They have absolutely nothing down low. We should be able to outrebound them by around 20 or so. If Darrell and Temple can limit those two guards, we should win by an equivalent margin. :geauxtige
