Many times I feel like the silliest of men. I find myself running to the tv to try to find the slightest hint of purple and gold. I find myself hearing "Hey Fightin Tigers" in the clatter of city streets. Part of mind tells me its just a game, played by young men with a weird shaped ball, pads and helmets.

Of course it is not just a game. Not to me atleast. I wish the passion I felt for LSU was directed towards something I could control. Maby the reason I love LSU so much is that I see all that is good and right in the world when I look up at Tiger Stadium. Its not an old bowl full of seats. It is passion, pride, loyalty, honor, history, and excellence. I see all of these things that are in short supply in the world at LSU. Within the four corners of LSU's field you see what life is all about. All is as it should be. You play, you struggle, you bleed, and you sacrifice. The good (LSU) and evil (anyone eles). Morals transcend themselves on third and long, borne to the heavens on bourbon tinged winds of noise. And the fans pay homage to the heroes with libation and with their voices, honoring those who fight and those who have fallen.

Every LSU grad will remain in the stadium and campus packed shoulder to shoulder with all the other great tiger fans that bleed purple and gold who await for ole LSU to fufill her promise and bring national glory back home to LSU. LSU is the banker, the roughneck, the poor, the rich, the healthy, the sick, the newly born and the dying. Yes, we are all seprate. Yes, we are unique. Yes, we are diffrent. But we are chapters in the same book, each of us a page in same priceless old tome. This is OUR story. Chrish it, Love it, emblazon it in your memories. Fight for it. Defend it. Protect it. Honor it. Take pride in it. Take joy in it. But most importantly believe in it!

After all we're LSU Fightin Tigers.

    And that still means something.

We as fans are so fortunate to live in a time when LSU sports has really established itself on the SEC level and a national level. Things used to not be that way and I'm very grateful to be lucky enough to witness all the great things LSU has done in my short 24 years of walking this earth. Thank you LSU for all the great memories and hopefully come 1/3/07 I can add one more. Geaux Tigers!!

I love our fan base. During our recent trip to Disney, I spent a lot of time each day talking about the Tigers to other LSU fans. It was a sea of purple and gold. Everywhere you went, every store you walked into, every line you joined, you would hear "Geaux Tigers!" Sure, fans of other schools were there, but you didn't hear much out of them. During the Christmas parade, Santa even yelled down at us with a loud "Geaux Tigers!" and "Merry Christmas LSU!" I've still got chill bumps. Tiger fans cover themselves in purple and gold, myself included, not because we're just fans but because it is a large part of who we are.

Besides my family, the greatest gift God ever gave me was being born in this sometimes dysfunctional state, and being raised a Tiger fan.

God, Family, Corps, LSU, and Country....In that order.

    LSU!

Agreed. The Ole Miss fans around here wear their shirts or hats once a week or so. Usually they wear their ball caps right after Christmas. I wear my LSU cap EVERY day rain or shine. And when it gets dirty I painstakenly clean it myself by hand. if it wears out I have a choice of 35 brand new caps to wear and take it's place.

when I went to a recent Christmas party my wife asked if I was going to wear the Santa hat. I told her I'd wear a Purple and gold one. She laughed and I wore one of my new LSu hats. Always fly the colors!

when I die, put some purple n gold in the coffin! LSU! LSU! LSU! LSU! LSU! LSU!

To me it means great memories and a prospective future:

It meant playing basketball as a kid and shouting Hi-C Carter when shooting from the side of the court.

It meant knowing who Jim Nasium and Randy Rice were, and what the hell a Tiger Track was.

It meant knowing the meaning of Hi-C Cater, What a shot, all the way from the Parking Lot.

Rudy Macklin, Cookie Man, Hi-C, Don Redden, Leonard Mitchell, Dale Brown Basketball Camp. Bo Bahnsen making us do duckwalks in the hallway of Kirby Smith for not going to bed at night.

It meant the first sign of sore muscles EVER!!

Football season would come around.. then things would change, and not only in the weather.

The Tiger Tracks of course changed, the Dalton-James Gang, Alllliiiinnnnn Risssshhhhheeeerrrrrrrr.

The laying in bed Friday night after you were the "chosen" one to go to some off the wall game (of course the Auburns, Alabama's and Georgias were saved for "adult friends") We got the Miami of Ohio's and the occasional Vandy.

Today its being nervous arriving on time, finding a parking space to get to the tail gate. Cooking, being with my friends and family, having a blast.

It means getting to the stadium BEFORE the band comes out on the field, and the chills and goosebumps you get with that drum starts thumping.

Its the knowledge that knowing when you're wearing that cap with LSU on it, no matter where you are, someone's your friend.

It means that half of your dresser drawers are filled with articles with LSU somewhere!

It means that Purple and Gold are great colors, no matter what time of day or night.

There is nothing like being a :helmet: fan, I wear purple and gold every day (except on Sundays when I go to church).

I have about 25 T-shirts, and about 15 sweatshirts, I even have a  nightgown.

That is not counting all my other LSU! stuff that is in my :helmet: room.

I wear my colors no matter what, if we lose a game, I wear my colors the next day just so everyone will know that I am still proud to be a  fan. I might not be a happy fan, but I am still a fan.

I run around Plano, Texas, all the time wearing an LSU sweatshirt or one of my baseball caps to run to the store after working out. I love being a Tiger.
