Really only two out of the four times we've played him, and he's only beaten us once. We skulldragged him the other times. Chavis has also gotten much better at figuring out spread offenses since 2010.
Personally, I'd like to drop 50 on the barn once and for all. We easily could have in 2011, but Les took the high road instead. Probably means it won't happen this year, either. Only way we do is if we have to, and that wouldn't be a good thing.
2006 LSU won but Arkansas gashed us for almost 400 yards on the ground. 09 was different because Auburn didn't have that spark on offense, the dude. 10 Newton gashed us, and we killed em in 2011, again he didn't have that baller. When Malzahn has that guy, he's dangerous, and the play from the defense thus far doesn't leave me with a good feeling, especially from linebacker on back. Is LSU better? Of course, should LSU win? No doubt, I'm just not taking this game as lightly as some.
I don't take any sec opponent lightly myself, although I would be shocked if Uk or Vandy were to beat us. Auburn has been a great rivalry most years and I expect a tough game. I do expect us to win and would live to stomp them.
I would give more credit to Darren McFadden and Cam Newton in those games. Malzahn can only get it done if he has a superstar top 5 NFL talent. He doesn't have one at Auburn now so I see it being more along the years where we beat him pretty solidly. But again, it's a rivalry game and we will see how it all shakes out on Saturday night
No controversy? Look what Auburn did to the LSU band during halftime...(around 7:58) (Nice video for all the Saban Fans)
You can't credit Malzahn for the 2006 Arkansas game. Nutt pulled his play calling role after the second game of the season that year.
