Let's say that Smoke were to be fired tomorrow. An interim head coach would fill in until a permanent replacement was found. Even if Mike Bianco or anybody else really does want this job, they would not leave their school until the season is over, which means that Turtle Thomas would probably take over as interim head coach. Would Turtle really make a difference? Would he be able to salvage the season? I don't think so. The best thing to do is to finish out the year, fire Smoke, and then go out there and get the best coach available.

I thought the saying was "where there is smoke, there is fire" and how does this play into your master plan?

Fire the coach after one bad season?

    That will not happen.

Smoke will be with us for at least a few more bad years.
