esp. on offense. We just need the coaches to get the players in position where they can make a play. When you have players like JJ, KW, TH, RS, BL, TT on offense, the offense can be scary good if you get them in the right place.
Everything is very uninspiring right now. IMHO Win or lose, this is not Tiger football. I like them bringing K. Williams in, he looks like he wants to play. Play the players that want to freaking play. I would go into Monday's practice and tell all the starters that all positions are open. Of course, the coaches have been out-coached the last two weeks. Les looks like a zombie on the sidelines. No excitement at all. Looks like a team looking for an identity. And I know you guys don't want to hear it but I WOULDN'T be surprised if Lee gets another shot eventually. The Scott up the middle is not going to work against most good teams and teams have basically figured out the rollouts. When a certain player comes in the game you know what they are going to call, no surprises to the defense.
the truth is you're right. We need to play better much better to compete with the teams we want to be on par with.
Clearly some players want to play, Keiland has looked great so far, LaFell, Toliver. JJ wants to play, but he's not matured fully, he's just a soph. The o-line still is suspect. Maybe they'll gel at some point. You can see the raw talent is there, but they're not firing in unison. Leadership? On offense, normally you look to the QB, and JJ seems self confident to do what he is being asked, but he does not look confident enough to inspire the rest of the team that they can get it done NOW, that they are going to do what it takes and WIN THIS GAME. That can be the difference between a good team and a great team. I picked this team to go 9-3, much on the inexperience of JJ and the difficulty of the schedule. So far, I see no reason to change that prediction. The D, they look to be working HARD. I like the LB and secondary, the D-line looks young. Drake Nevis looks like a player, and Alem tries very hard. Lavar Edwards and Josh Downs will have their time as Tigers. Downs makes some good moves, at his size he has a spin move during his rush that is very nice. Edwards has size, speed and a mean streak, I'm going to like him. But, we're young up front and getting blocked. I saw the interviews with Matt Barkley and Joe McKnight after their win in Columbus last night, and Barkley has a great mental attitude. Say what you want about Pete Carroll, but he creates a good competitive mental attitude for his kids, and Barkley has it. Barkley is not afraid to fail, he's out there and he's leading his team.
Same thing I was thinking when I watched them last night. No one should underestimate the value of understanding who you are as a team. Someone will need to step up as the leader that will pull this team together. I haven't seen it yet. Overall this is a fairly young group that is still learning on both sides of the ball. There is so much firepower out there it almost seems like everyone is trying to figure out how best to apply it all. The light will go on for these guys at some point and I have seen reasons to be optimistic on both sides of the ball. Until then this is still a work in progress.
Mostly agree. The OC is killing me for the 2nd year in a row though. As soon as I see certain personnel go on the field I can pretty much pick the play about 80% of the time. I don't sit there and watch film for hours a week like the opposing DC does. Past success does not guarantee future success.
Got an example? We won the last two weeks, you know. It worked for over 1,000 yards last year. If Jefferson can get a passing game going, the runs will open up inside. LSU opened on the road and with two BCS teams instead of at home versus a couple of cupcakes. A new defense and a new quarterback need to work out some issues in the first games and we didn't have any patsies to play early.
That's false. Williams need to be our go to guy in the running game and Scott needs to be reduced to spot backup duty and short yardage situations.
false. kw is reggie bush who had a decent game. you need someone to run with authority and kw cannot be that guy. its a mindset and something you cannot teach. odds are it aint ever going to happen. matter of fact, id say impossible.
I agree that this team is a work in progress. The coaches are trying all pieces of the puzzle to see who can do what in what situation. I would imagine that the goal is to have the pieces in place by Game 4. The team is a year away from being special and I, for one, have the patience to let it happen. The competition, to date has been stiff enough to allow the coaches to evaluate under game conditions. The disappointed fans are the ones who think we should be at Florida's level right now. That's not realistic. 2-0 is great and I'm having fun.
