.. needs to be raised, i know we have weapons everywhere ( a stable of rb's and wr's)but the opposing DC has enough to worry about with sky, bowe early buster xavier amp AB Joe JV and Shy, David Jones can be very lethal especially in the red zone when we will be able to do whatever because we have number one we have 2 tall capable WR's in Bowe and Buster, AB can run over you JV around you and Joe a little bit of both, hester is also a wild card down there, in the redzone we have so many options that i think a few times this year you will see a wide open David Jones or Jacob Hester all by themselves in the endzone If David Jones can be come a major contributor we will be scary good on offense this season In my opinion if we can make the tight end a real threat, this offense can put out the kind of production we saw in 2001

As I have said before, the TE is the most dangerous position on the field... When your main offensive threat is the running game, having a TE who can block is essential. If he is also a good reciever, then that makes the TE the most important reciever on the field. With 3 wideouts, you hurt your running game because you dont have the extra big body inside. With 2 wideouts and a fast TE, you keep your running game going, while still having the third reciever who will be mismatched with linebackers and safeties. Typically, your TE is faster than the big guys and bigger than the fast guys, so he can out run the big linebackers and outmuscle the faster linebackers and safeties. If you have two guys on the outside who can stretch the field, then your TE can work the middle against the LBs all day, because the safeties will have to be in cover2 to prevent the deep pass. When the TE starts to kill you, the defense will have to put a safety man2man on the TE. THis opens of the deepouts and deep posts to the WRs because there is only one safety deep.

Tight ends at LSU recently have been blockers first and receivers second. They often line up at fullback, too. Much more than they go out for a pass. So they have tended to be big guys, really a second OT on one side of the line. You need this if you run the football a lot or the OL needs help protecting the quarterback.

And when they do go out for a pass, it is usually a surprise to the defense and has a lot of big play potential, especially in the red zone.

We absolutely will utilize the Tight End next year. Not because we have to. We have an amazing group of WR's & also RB's. But because we have one of the best TE's as well & using him moves us from being a great offense, to being an unstoppable offense. Too many weapons for a defense to handle.

I'd have to disagree with that 100%. The most danegerous position on the field is whatever position has your most explosive player and that is very seldom the TE. Sure, if you have one of these all world guys that can run a 4.5 than they surely can be a great and effective weapon, but a great RB or great WR is the most danegerous player IMO.

If we throw 25 passes to the TE's I would be satisfied.
