But I was just thinking. Alabama is going to produce some outrageous high school football talent this year. I mean sick. The quality and quantity far exceed anything I can remember coming out of that state in a long time. In 2001 Louisiana produced some outrageous high school football talent, even for Louisiana standards. That class undoubtedly carried LSU to the 2003 :crystal:. Now, I wonder if Nick Saban took the LSU job in 2000 and the Bama Job in 2007 (I'm sure the 32m was a factor, as well), because of the upcoming bumper crops of talent that would stock the respective schools for the next 3-5 years. If you only plan on being somewhere 3-5 years, that would be one hell of a way to decide where to go.
I think you're reaching. It's possible that he heard about the in-state talent at Bama this year, but I would seriously doubt it was foremost on his mind when he took the job. I'm a little skeptical that the Alabama talent level is really that high. A lot of hype goes into this, and I'm sure some of the Saban-hype has spread into the recruiting circles. Alabama has a really special player in Julio Jones, and I'm sure they have plenty of other solid player, but I wonder if the other ones are really as great as advertised.
I think Saban being a loser in the pros had more to do with it. He couldn't stand the fact that he was not going to turn Miami around. So he left.
