This is the best looking LSU team I've seen in a while

Our defense is fast, nasty and getting take-aways. Lot's of them.
    - We've got Seniors playing and doing their thing.
    - We've got Juniors in the 2 deep.
    - We've got tons of Sophomores that start and have a major impact.
    - Our DLine appears to be 12 deep.
    - Our secondary is pretty awesome.

Our offense is moving the ball on the ground and in the air.
    - We have 2 quality RB's that wear opponents down.
    - Our Oline is doing a great job of protecting the QB and opening the running lanes.
    - Our QB can throw the short pass or the deep ball and looks to be in total control.
    - Our WR are making plays.

We have an advantage on Special Teams.
    - We returned a kick for a TD last night.
    - Against Oregon ST got us 2 take-aways.
    - Our punter pinned WVU inside their 15 like 5 times last night and several times against Oregon.

I've watched every televised down we've played since the '04 season began.

I can honestly say, this is the best team, top-to-bottom, we've had since I've been watching. (Spent 7 1/2 yrs in the Army)

We may, or may not win the National Championship this year. I don't even care about that at this point.

I'm so proud of the positive attention LSU is getting from the media.
    - The Walter Camp player of the week awards.
    - College Game Day covering 2 of our games and we've won both handily.
    - We've whipped 3 really good teams on prime time TV. None of those wins were in Tiger Stadium.

Coach has done a wonderful job with this team, so far.

You just can't say enough - the coaching staff, recruiting, and the schemes we're running fit our players talents and we're clicking on all cylinders right now.

This team reminds me a lot of the 2007 team. That team was stacked on offense, defense and special teams. The thing is, Matt Flynn wasn't the best QB we've had. He made plays when needed (4th quarter) but a lot of the times he was reckless - like in both our losses. I would take the new and improved Jarrett Lee over him at this point because Lee's decision-making has been particularly exceptional this year.

What killed us that year were injuries and I'm already worried about some injuries we've had this year so far. And also what will happen if we play a team like Bama who might stuff our run game and seeing if we can rely on Lee in those situations.

This IS the best team I've ever observed. We have the best of both worlds in that we have: 1) impact players who can change the game--not once, but repeatedly, and 2) a team that is complete and running on all engines. We are not hampered by any showboat personalities looking to shine in their personal stats, and the team itself bristles with depth almost anywhere you look.

The media are taking notice; Les has become the DARLING of the commentators, who fall all over each other to report snippets of Les' actions & statements, because these sound-byte vampires cannot get enough of his quirkiness, he's a gentleman by any measure, they know the players love him, and, um, oh yeah:everybody loves a winner, and LSU wins with CLM.

The Bandwagon is filling up fast fellas! Shuffle forward & make some room for a chit-load of Johnny-come-latelys!

Live is sweet in Bayou Country!

As to your original post I agree, I think this team at least rivals our past championship teams. The only thing that worries me is that our d line didn't get much pass rush for the vast majority of the game. If we can't get it on them what about Bama and other SEC teams? Time will tell

    b_leblanc That's just my game...

We didn't get a rush from the dline because they weren't blitzing like they normally do, they were preventing the big play. Noticed they couldn't run against us right? We could've put him on the ground a few times had we blitzed more and mixed it up, but why open up the playbook before the meat of the schedule? Why not develop a gameplan and stick to the script? I think that's exactly what happened.

I agree that at this point in the season, this team looks like it has the potential to be the best ever.

The one thing that concerns me is injuries to the O-Line over the long haul. That's something that we should keep an eye on as we get into the meat and potatoes of our schedule. If they stay healthy, we roll. If not.....well....we'll see.
