1. That is a great article. You can just take a look at the Bama nation to see just how sad it is to be on top and then not be there for awhile. Those folks are not having any fun these days.
  2. To me thats a defeatist attitude. "Let's not do too well so we won't come crahing down or be under constant pressure to win" LSU may not win another NC for awhile but it was worth it !
  3. ????

I thought that was kinda silly.

Life is short, I'll enjoy the victory for as long as I can.

Like Saban and alot of smart people said "one day at a time"

There's really no point in all the what if's and worry.
  4. If LSU stays in the elite group of 5 or 6 teams that compete for the NC for 10 or 12 years like Florida State or Miami or the way Alabama did in the past annd then say 15 years from now the program falls into a state of disrepair like the Bama and Notre Dame programs are in now I can accept that.

As long as Nick Saban is the coach or Emmert is the chancellor that is not going to happen but sooner or later there will be different people running things. Lets enjoy the ride as long as it lasts.
  5. I understand what the guy is saying but I don't think the way he
    does:

I'm really happy we won the NC and I will celebrate it until kickoff
    next year.

I wanted to be an elite team so badly after we lost to Florida and
it showed, I didn't think it would happen with this team and I was
    wrong.

I wanted LSU football to be a powerhouse like all the powerhouses of the past and present.

I don't care if we win another NC anytime soon or not, It would be
nice but all I want is LSU Football to be consistant, Like in the top
    10 year after year.

I'm totally happy with that like I would've been if we would've had
to play Michigan in the Rose bowl.

I don't expect to win the NC every year, some years the breaks
don't go your way and key people are injured.

Its not a realistic thing in my mind, how many teams win the NC back to back?

    I'm smarter than that!

All I expect from my football teams is not to be too predictable and
be competitive and consistant when possible.

Just enough to be excited about LSU Football
  6. What's wrong with hopeing for a high level of success? Look at the baseball team. Are the fans bitter every year because we don't win a national title? No, because we know it's just one year and we'll be back later.
  7. EXACTLY! We just want the same level of consistent success in football.
  8. You have to understand, the author of the article is Kevin Foote with Lafayette's Daily Advertiser. He is a huge Houston Astro's fan, so he is used to underachievers. Foote is actually not a bad guy at least based upon what he says on the radio and from what I read of his articles.
  9. I'm sorry but that post and the......

I can't believe what I'm reading here. That's like saying that the worst thing that ever happened to be was having that one incredible job I had 5 years ago where I made all kinds of bucks and had a great boss, fabulous co-workers, great benefits, etc. Or I should never had had that beautiful girl friend back in 92, no ther girl will ever measure up. Give me a break, that is a deaftist attitude.
