good god. I'm pretty sure that there isnt a song in the world that brings about the emotion in any human being like that song. my body freezes and my hairs stick up. i get a huge sh*t eating grin and I even want to cheer.

Im a loser.

I mean the star spangled banner stirs feelings... but that song... it just does it for me... I think Im going to try having sex to that song... should be an interesting experience.

LOL I actually bought the cd at Tiger Mania and I ride around listening to it, especially on this street where some bammer fans live, I BLAST it.... I too, am a loser...

The okies were haveing a good time of it. Their band was already there and playing some stuff, their cheerleaders were doing stuff and they were being loud. As I took my seat I found I was sitting next to a female Okie that was clearly a direct descendant of Geronimo with her paleface Sooner farmer husband on her other side. The smaller number of Tiger Fans around the stadium were barely paying attention, talking to each other, scratching, etc. I was not surprised, the rest were still eating and drinking outside of course.

Apparently emboldened by the lack of opposition, the now swelling number of Okies began to get more and more rambunctious, did some of that queer looking hand motions forming OU with their arms as they spelled out OU ala Village People, and settled in to a "We Own This Place" mode.

Still the Tigers gave only scattered and feeble response.

The Sooners came out to warm up and the Okies went into a frenzy. They ohhed and ahhhed the warmup routines, their band raised a ruckus and that shetland pony pulled the little wagon around the field once.

The Tigers went to get another beer, put their feet up on the seats in front of them and gabbed, spitting out a random LSU,LSU ever now and then.

The Okies Confidence was rising, They were jumping up and standing more now, towering above the still sitting Tigers. The DirtThief's Squaw next to me looked like she would pull out a tomahawk any minute.

Meanwhile the Tiger Fans were beginning to file in now, still not making much noise, but quietly filling up the gaps. Nick brought Our Boys out to warm up, which elicited the first Tiger response of any note, but still not approaching the Okie's clamor.

It very quickly became obvious, that as they had earlier in the week, the Okies were hogging the field past their practice time, and Saban's perturbment was very thinly veiled. A few low level murmurbooos floated out in response and then Nick apparently gave the order to move-em outa the way and they did. Tiger Fans went back to checking their cameras and got another beer.

Finally the GBFTL members began to wander in and look around, find their seats, gab, take pictures, mug for pictures and watch the Tigers warming up. The Okie Band, sensing competition, broke into some ballad of apparent sentimental connection as the Okie faithfull, standing again, followed along in song. They were in full domination.

The Tigers were finishing up and the numbers in the Dome had quietly evened up. The GBFTL was beginning to fiddle with their instruments and find their way to their seats. Nick gathered up his charges and headed for the locker room. Not many empty seats now.

The Okies were standing, most of the Tigers were sitting, they were doing cheers with their cheerleaders, ours came around with some 2 bits or other, I reached in my jacket for my bottle of crown, the same bottle that gone to each home game this season and the SECCG, always leaving a little and adding more, and got my first snort of Elixor of Coaching Genius, shook it out and gave a warmup GEAUX TIGERS! Geronimo's Grandaughter made furtive movements with her hands which I watched carefully from the corner of my eye.

The GBFTL had coalesced into ranks. The Drum Major had his sceptre. The Okie's did another cheer. They were loud, not at all lightweights like Illinois 2 years before. They had it going, this was going just fine.

The Band Leader in white climbed up on his little ladder. Out of the corner of every Tiger Eye it was seen. But nothing was given away. Still the Okies stood and the Tigers seemed detached. The hand with the wand was raised. The horns and pipes suddenly swung into rigid fixed positions. Thousands of Tigers cut off a quick slug and put their cups under their chairs.

Four Familiar Hard Loud Notes Rang out, the last one clipped off short: DA DA DAH DA! And as One a Chorus of Tens of Thousands Sprang to their Feet with a Fist Thrust Hard and High in the Air and Answered in Perfect Time in Practiced Perfect Unison with a "GEAUX TIGERS" that was like a Backslap of Thunder to the Band. Another 4 notes Rang Out Harder, Louder and Higer Yet, and were Answered with a Harder, Louder "GEAUX TIGERS" like a Primal Scream yet somehow Sung in Richochet to the Notes, Then again a Third Time, Followed by a Quick Ascent to a Finale with a Perfectly Timed "ALASSYOU" woven into the Final Three Beats. Ok, there was a minor underchorus of "Kick Their Ass" with those last three beats as well.

The Okies were stunned. Suddenly as a RattleSnake Strike their Domination of the Dome was Blown Away. They tried, but in seconds they had been shown that they were no match for the Tiger Fans and The Golden Band From TigerLand. For Truly, like no other I have ever seen, these two act together, feed off of one another, and perform together. There is Symbiosis.

I want to thank you Mello_at_LSU, you and all the Band. You make the LSU Experience special like no other. You were there, and you know of what I speak. These people were used to having their way, they expected to have their way, they expected to dominate the Dome that Day in the stands as well as on the Floor. They could bring it too. But they were no match for the Tiger Fans Synchronized with Their Band.

We Love Our Band. When the Band did not make the Arizona Trip last year, there was major bitching and griping of all over because you were left home. I have wanted to say this Thank You for so Long, Pardon Me for being long like this, but I have told this account many times because it was so Glorious the way it happened. And I wanted to say Thank You.

And It Happened Just that Way.

I think everyone that belongs to this site shares the same emothions when they hear this song. I can't wait until game day!!!
