lets all quit bitching about the game being played in arizona, and focus on the beating we're going to put on az state on sat. night. whats done is done, and all the complaining in the world won't change a thing.
Well, I'm disappointed that the game is not being played in Tiger Stadium, and disappointed still that it's not in LA period, BUT, since the decision is made to play in Tempe, I'll just say that it's not like the sky will fall on our football season (although I'll be the FIRST to admit that I will be as MAD AS A HORNET if the game vs Tennessee is thrown out of Louisiana as well), but look at tonight's game as an example. Both FSU and Miami can be national title contenders--even the loser of that game still has a shot. Furthermore, we're not the only team from a major conference with national title hopes that ends up playing their first game of '05 on the road, or their first game vs another top 25 team. Let's kick ASU's a$$ just the same!
Why? It's not like LSU officials don't want the game to be played here as much as anyone. It's OK to be disappointed but this is a situation beyond anyone's control. I don't understand all of the anger that is being directed toward Bertman and the other LSU admin. I'm just happy to be able to watch LSU in action Saturday night.
I am upset that the LSU didn't make ASU swap this game with the scheduled game in Tempe in 2008. Who negotiated this deal for LSU? If Skip had any part in it than he should come under fire from LSU fans. This has the makings of the Va. Tech deal for LSU. Watch Va. Tech try and weisel out of the home game they have with LSU again.
Why?? Do you REALLY want me to validate my statement for being upset because if that situation happens (game 3 moved away from Tiger Stadium a whole MONTH after "rescue")....you mean other than the obvious reasons as: how are we to PAY for all of those construction projects (you know, the same projects completed in time to PUT the PMAC in the situation it's in now) without the benefit of a home game?!
My point is that LSU was placed in an untenable situation and ASU held all of the cards. I think they took advantage of it. If you want to be angry, direct it to the Sun Devils, not LSU officials. As far as preparing to get pissed if the Tennessee game is moved, why not wait that one out? Jeez, so many crybabies and finger pointers on this forum.
I think your wrong. What could ASU do except refuse to come and forfeit. LSU had the final say and obviously they thought that the best course of action, all things considered was to move the game to Tempe. I do agree however that, if possible , the game should have stayed in LA, but obviously that wasn't possible. ASU had ZERO controll over this desicion. Somebody PLEASE tell me what power they had that forced us to play in Tempe even if LSU didn't want to do that. LSU made the decision, not ASU. As far as why the game in '08 wasn't moved to TS, that is easily answered. I have heard and read noumerous times that an extra game was added to be played in TS at a later date. Moving the '08 game to TS is not as fair as it sounds. If we counted this game as their home game, we rob them of time to hype the game and get people to buy tickets. Less than a weeks time is not nearly enough to do all that needs to be done to make a big game the best it can be. Adding another game to the home and home and donating ALL of the profits of the game to the releif efforts was the right thing to do. I don't care what they are saying, but i refuse to beleive that the real reason for the moving of this game had ANYTHING to do with hotels. If that were the case, then forget about any home game for the next year or two. I think this had everything to do with the extra personel (law ennforcement ect.) it would take away to run the game there and the people in the PMAC. Seeing as how the Tenn game is in 3 weeks i fully expect to play that game in TS.
I really thought we would be above being angry about a game not being played in a certain stadium. Sure, it sucks for LSU, including employees, players, fans, etc. But come on, thousands of people have lost their lives, and others are trying to hang onto theirs. The lost revenue, the lost "fun at the game," the potentially lost national championship run...come on, how can anyone in their right mind compare that to the lost lives, the lost homes, the lost dreams???
Exactly. This post should be a sticky, as it goes a long way to explaining why ASU wouldn't just do a swap. A little common sense goes a long way sometimes.
