World's oldest person dies at age 115 Gertrude Baines, the world's oldest person, died on Saturday, Sept. 12 in Los Angeles, Calif., at the age of 115. Baines, who was born on April 6, 1894, was declared the oldest person in the world after the passing of Maria de Jesus of Portugal, who also died at age 115, in January of this year.
