Grab some wood, bub. Sans injury, Lee's your starting QB, Hatch #2, and you get the redshirt, which will make you a better QB down the road anyway. Take the year to learn the system, get a bit stronger, and come out firin' in '09!

I don't think you realize how close he was to playing last night. Three different times he strapped his helmet on, and the cards just fell to the other two guys to make a play and keep him on the bench.

I'm glad Lee had a good second half and maybe his switch flipped, but he is one bad step away from needing to be 100% prepared to play.

There is no reason he can't be used in certain situations. Much like we utilized two qb's last year.

There is not much use in redshirting Jefferson with a five-star Qb coming on board next year. We need to get him as much PT as possible this season in case Lee or Hatch goes down. Jefferson will be all we have for a reserve if that were to happen. We need to get the "green" off him as soon as possible.

and lets not forget hatch has a concussion. i hope it is not bad for his sake. but we may be needing jefferson as a back up.

even if hatch is available to play for msu, one hard hit and he could easily be out again and for longer.

Didn't CLM burn the redshirt when JJ took a few snaps a week ago? I thought one play was all it took....?

And Okie is right - depending on Hatch's situation, JJ may be needed as a backup for the next few weeks.

My understanding is that JJ cannot get a normal redshirt. If he sustains an injury, he could get a medical redshirt, vis-a-vis Andrew Hatch.

If I'm not mistaken, they changed the redshirt rules. They can redshirt even after taking snaps now, but it's very limited. I got no details though, so someone else can elaborate should they feel the need.

At this point I don't think redshirting is in the cards. Considerring that we use the spread option, either of our QB's could get injured. JJ needs to be kept in the wings ready to play in case Lee takes a shot when running the ball. He tends to run upright.
