If the scum had won and the rain kept up (it started Saturday and stopped long eeeeeenough for Spann to fieeeeld a couple of groundeeeers), there might have been a toss. It was pretty much the same setting as the 1990 USC regional. The suicide squeeze by USC in that regional is still biggest cajones call I've seen at any LSU event by an opponent.
brett boone/jeff cirillo jacque jones (didnt play with brett) tim hudson (he was their DH--best hitter and ace pitcher) he won a CWS game practically all by himself. brad wilkerson--wonderboy or superboy whatever the hell they called him. rickie weeks jason varitek with ga tech
The best sports were Bo Jackson and Phillip Doyle. Bo was taunted with "go left, Bo! go left" in reference to a missed assignment that cost Auburn one of those mid-80 Iron Bowls. His last time coming in from center, he made a strong turn to the left and tipped his cap. Bo was loved at the Box, something a visting player seldom could say. Phillip Doyle was taunted about missing the game winning field goal in the 1988 Red Elephant game. He faced the cat calls with grace. He was the first player the Bleacher Creatures ever fed.
