Saban heading to Miami By Ted Lewis Staff Writer Nick Saban is leaving LSU after five years to become coach of the Miami Dolphins, sources said Saturday. Saban was to address at 6:30 p.m. news conference at the team’s hotel in Orlando, Fla., where the Tigers arrived Saturday to begin preparations for the Capitol One Bowl against Wisconsin on Jan. 1. The press conference followed a team meeting. The announcement was not made before the team left Baton Rouge because several members were joining the group on their own in Orlando. Saban has been actively courted by the Dolphins for the past two weeks and Friday met with Miami owner Wayne Huizenga in Baton Rouge, later saying he needed 24 to 48 hours to decide whether to accept the offer. Saban leaves LSU as the winningest coach in school history at .762. His 48 victories are second only to Charlie McClendon.
