had a meeting in gretna yesterday, was cancelled turned around near superdome traffic on i-10 west was already slowing down. i had the bright idea to head back to BR via airline highway. this all started about 915 am.

airline hwy was a slow moving parking lot, another bright idea to williams to river road. traffic was a little better. didn't arrive home in gonzales (hwy 44_ till about 200pm. what a tough trip.

feel sorry for the ones that decided to leave new orleans afternoon yesterday.
times like these puts sports and work into perspective, nothing is as important as safety and families in the times.

i hope all is safe. :thumb:

I was telling my brother last night if you need to get into BR (I live out in Galvez) that you better get a boat, helicopter, or a magic carpet lying around. From the news i hear, it has only gotten worse out on 10. Now i have to figure out the easiest route to Bluebonnet from here

maybe you could try airline hwy, but i thought i heard that it was also backed up.
news reports that i-10 was backed up from new orleans to the texas state line.

My family just drove from New Orleans to my house in Houston. It took over 14 hours to make the trip!

I left Mid-City around 9:30 yesterday morning, shortly after Mayor Nagin declared the state of emergency. Traffic was pretty heavy on I-10 headed out, so I got off on the Causeway. They weren't charging a toll, and traffic was about like it normally is on the Causeway...then I got to the Mandeville/Covington area, and things backed up. It was slow going on I-12 from Covington to Hammond (when I say slow, I mean 40-50 mph once you got past the snarlup getting on I-12 in Covington), but then it opened up a little bit past Hammond. I ended up in BR at about 12:15...pretty good when compared to some of the folks that left later yesterday.

Side note: I got on I-12 at South Sherwood Forest last night around 8 to go visit my sister in the Essen/Perkins area...things were severely jammed up. It took me close to 15 min. to get to Airline where I got off.

My father-in-law was in his RV and left Gretna and 10 hours later he was in Patterson. He finally pulled over and just went to sleep.

Traffic wasn't much better in BR this morning. A simple 10 minute drive to work from 1-12/Sherwood Forest to downtown took almost an hour. I drove on every back road I could think of ... think I saw all the crack houses in BR on my way to work!

Just got back from picking up breakfast at McDonald's on S. Sherwood Forest...the place looks like a refugee camp.
