Anyone see the Plays of the Day on SC? A 14 lateral game winning play...it is something to see. http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?videoId=3083220&categoryId=2564308&n8pe6c=2
The other team actually appeared to give up and say WTF after that last lateral or 2. At some point it gets ridiculous. That was past absurd. Should invoke some kind of rule that states you can only lateral it 5 times on one single play to be valid. That makes for a mockery of the game. I'll take Cal game 30 someodd years ago or the Saints/Jags game 5 or so years ago.
Seriously????? How about they just tackle the guy and then there's no argument. They let them do it, all they had to do was hit somebody. Surely you can't really think they need a rule to prevent that?
So you would have a rule that says 6 laterals mocks the game, but 5 is OK? No rule change needed. BTW, weren't there about 9 laterals on the Cal play?
Millsaps will have a hard time watching the replay during films on Sunday. The game should well have been over. The reason you don't often see 14 laterals is not because few teams enjoy making a mockery of the game. Rather, these sorts of plays aren't frequently witnessed because the opposing defense stops them.
