How many of you old Tigers know the origin of "Hey Fighting Tigers"?
Not old but...It was adapted from a musical...."hey look me over" or something. LSU bought the rights to the song.
'Hey, Look Me Over' was from the Broadway
production ... Wildcat.
The rest of the number as we now know it ...
Hey, Fightin' Tigers, Fight all the way, Play Fightin' Tigers, win the game today. You've got the know how, you're doing fine, Hang on to the ball as you hit the wall and smash right through the line
You've got to go for a touchdown Run up the score. Make Mike the Tiger stand right up and roar. ROAR! Give it all of your might as you fight tonight and keep the goal in view. Victory for L-S-U!
The composer of Hey Look Me Over/Hey Fightin' Tigers was interviewed a few years ago and said he gets more royalties from Hey Fightin' Tigers than the original. Every time it is performed on TV, ASCAP sends him a few bucks.
Ya'll know way too much about show tunes and musicals.
You've got a point, BengalB. And it's right on the top of your head.
So your head must be just as pointed since you did the same thing I just did. Posted and then deleted some smack about Auburn after realizing we were watching last years game during the Arkansas - Alabama rain delay.
