8-7! With one out and the bases loaded, Baylor chops one to the 2nd baseman and he touches 2nd and throws it away at first, 2 runs score for the win!
I hate to say it ( no, I don't) but I'm thrilled. Not only did the Weenies get eliminated, but, it hurt. Ohhhhhhh...the humanity. That big ole chip got knocked right off of their collective shoulder and I couldn't be happier.
I had a hunch that Tulane didnt have the team to go all the way. Looks like they may have been overrated after all. I figured they'd go a little deeper though. Well, I'm sure that has LSU nation just tickled pink. I was hoping they'd win so it would make LA look better. But, now it's lookin like the Longhorns.
I wondered going in to this game if Tulane's bats could be held at bay as Texas did last nite. Actually, with any defense in the early innings, BU would've been in this thing all game. Anyway, we know how it ended, what's it mean ? Having watched Texas and Baylor all year, I think the Horns had to be pulling for Tulane tonite. Baylor beat the Horns 4 of the last 5. Tulane was plainly and simply and very obviously intimidated by Texas last nite. Baylor won't be tomorrow nite. Should be fun. I watch every CWS game every year if at all possible (have even scheduled knee surgery around it) and today with AzSt's extra inning win over Nebraska and the 9th inning win from Baylor over weenie, from a college baseball fan's perspective, it was one of the best I remember. :thumb:
While I wasn't pulling against the Greenies, I get tired of their fans who believe their (well-deserved) number one rating all season put their program on the same level as multi-national champion LSU. The final play of tonight's game was a microcosm of that attitude. That 2nd baseman should have gone to the SS, who had at least a shot at completing the double play. Instead, some guy who thought he was better than he was through away their game, and their season.
