during the Southeastern game. Coach Toledo benched Soph QB Scott Elliott, in favor of RFr Anthony Scelfo. Yes yes, the last name is significant. Elliott has one TD to his 4 INT’s and young gun, son has no TD’s but did manage to get one INT and I can tell you he is a dam good “Hand-offer”. :hihi:
Scelfo to make his first start at QB against LSU Can you imagine having to make your first start against our defense? My guess is that he somehow pissed off his coach in practice. Ether that or the kid is suicidal. Wow LINK
Re: Scelfo to make his first start at QB against LSU I am guessing that Toledo watched some film from last year's game and decided that since Scelfo moved the offense up and down the field against third stringers, that he would be the Wave's best bet to put up a decent fight. By the way, my friend, who is a hardcore Tulane fan acknowledged to me last night that it would not be close this Saturday, predicting a 52-10 Tiger victory. His reasoning: Les Miles is a good guy. He'll call the dogs off early.
Re: Scelfo to make his first start at QB against LSU He's pretty cocky to think they'll even score 10. :hihi:
Anthony had a very good high school career at my alma mater (Jesuit High in New Orleans). He led Jesuit to a 20-4 record in his two years as a starter, including a surprise run at the state championship (made it to the semifinals) in 2003 along with RB Chris Markey (starts for UCLA), and TE Chris Brown (starts for Tennessee at FB, I think).. he wasn't a superb passer, but he's a fiery kid, very undersized, yet a good runner. He and Tulane have no chance this weekend, obviously, but he's a gutsy kid. I doubt he finishes the game, though. Oh, and let's hope he doesn't hand off too much, because I like interceptions. :hihi: Brian ~Go Tigers!~
The main guy for Tulane is Matt Forte, he is the team. Scelfo's a solid player, good runner, but I'm pretty sure they'll focus on getting Forte the ball as much as possible.
That's interesting, I've seen both Markey and Brown play, didn't know they were from around here. I'll be secretly rooting for them to do well from now on (but not against us ;p)
