It looks like it's a two horse race between Nicholls State and McNeese. McNeese has a better program but Nicholls has some old high school teammates and is closer to New Orleans. McNeese feels pretty good about their chances though. I don't think Jackson State and Prairie View are a factor from what I've been told
If I had to guess, I'd say it's the sum of several things. Ryan Perrilloux wasn't kicked off the team for one thing. It was the culmination of several things that he did that led to Miles' decision of dismissal. Obviously there is a line that's drawn, but you have to get to that line first. Failed drug tests, missed classes, etc. all add up to an element that Miles doesn't want associated with this team.
The second or third question asked during the press conference the reporter inquired about whether this was a team or school issue. Miles said both. The later takes it out of his hands, right? Along with that, I keep coming back to this point. I don't know the normal protocol for who announces press conferences for Miles. In other situations at other schools it's been the Sports Information Dept. In this case, it was a chancellor that announced the time and location. That leads me to believe a school policy took precedence over one from the athletic department which in turn takes it out of his hands.
I just hope this young man gets his life together. It is a personal problem that he is dealing with and he has not yet learned how to deal with it in a productive way. Hopefully with the right help, he can learn how to keep his painful past at bay and become a productive member of society. Miles said he is a quality person, just seems like life (his) might be too much for him without the proper coping tools. As far as why he is not at LSU, I have heard many of the rumors and not sure which ones I believe. It doesn't matter to me why, I just hope it works out for him. If he plays at Nicholls, I will be sure to go down the road and support him.
"Famous recruits"? RP was the starting QB heading into the '08 season, genius. If you honestly don't see how the situations are similar, then there's no way I'll waste my time arguing with someone so hopelessly numb. No one is talking about accolades except you. That should tell you something.
