1. People are reading way too much into confused, contradictory statements and rumors.

    1. Unless Mathieu was accused of sexually assaulting someone, this isn't even in the same universe as Duke or Penn State.

    2. Alleva has absolutely zero incentive to piss off one of the winningest coaches in school history and drive him off. The BoS would can him five seconds after he overrode Les' discretion and forced him into a decision without major, overwhelming cause. Alleva is easily replaceable, Les not so much.

  2. no it was not, synthetic cannabis has been illegal in Louisiana since August 15th , 2010. I kind of keep up with things like that…you know…it is my job and all.

It was alleged by the media that his suspension in 2011 was for smoking synthetic weed. If so it was illegal at that time.
  3. I don't think this is the case. I think they're trying to walk the line about his eligibility. If they say he is permanently ineligible to play at LSU, it clouds the issue as to whether he can go somewhere else. If they say, he is suspended indefinitely and may be able to come back but tell him privately that he's out, he has no issue with transferring. The word ineligible could create a problem for him from what I've read.

  5. I have a hard-time believing a weed problem can have this guy PERMANENTLY ineligible to play again. We have had people commit real crimes that harm other people that received less harsh punishments and actually stayed on the team (kick to the head by JJ, Perriloux using that Billy Cannon money, Wing allegedly kicking a kid's ass in an apt. complex, etc.). If he really is permanently ineligible, there has to be more at play here that has not come to light.

Was he selling the shit...or maybe prescription pills or something, and Les found out about it? Keeping it under wraps so he doesn't catch a charge? The full depth of the punishment doesn't seem to fit the "crime" here.

  6. Charges were dropped, thus we can assume his innocents

Was that ever actually proven…or was it just a rumor. Either way, he got dismissed from the team.

Again…charges were not filed, you can’t kick a kid off for an “alleged” offence.

One, you will never hear anything from the school because of privacy laws. Everything will be just rumors and should not have much faith put in it.

Second, if he failed three times the rules calls for permanent dismissal, it’s that simple. Three strikes and you’re out.
  7. Ehh...I guess I'm just caught up on the harm to the other people vs. harm to one's self part. But I understand and support the rule that resulted in TM7 being dismissed. Football should be the least of his concerns right now, so to hell with a transfer.
  8. I'm with ya. I can't help but wonder if there is more to it as well, but maybe the others are right and it is simply the 3strikes and you're out failed drug tests. (I think I used "you're" correctly here, for those grammar experts in the audience:)).
  9. without trying to sound too moralistic, doing drugs, selling drugs, and particiating in that type of behavior is illegal, not to mention against the rules and regulations of all universities across this country. I understand it goes on and no one is in trouble until they get cought. TM has issues un realated to football. These are life issues that he should get straightened out or he will decrease his chances of becoming a productive citizen of this country once he is complete with his football career. No industry that I know of knowigly tolerates the use of illegal drugs. TM would have a difficult time holding on to a job with failed drug tests and not correcting the problem of using illegal drugs. TM put LSU in the position of only being able to do one thing, which is enforce their substance abuse policy and drop him from the team.
  10. Well, I can tell you that Les said today that Mathieu is gone for the season now. This delay in transferring is because they're trying to get LSU to committ to a one year suspension instead of permanent. That's my theory. If Tyrann goes that route, I'll be impressed. It would tell me he's committed to improving himself as a person. In the end, I don't know that it will come together.
