recently he's been less than expected, go back a few years. all I'm saying is he's pulled the rabbit out of the hat a few times when he shouldn't have. And if you are an LSU fan ( you are ) You know that. he's done it agaisnt us. he's unorthodox and a terrible recruiter, but he has some calls at times that work. I don't know how but they do. Either that or he just has a rabbits foot that works on certain days and not on others.
I think he's a pretty good game day coach. Look at how close he usually plays good teams. He almost beats Texas, he's knocked off LSU & just generally plays close with the big boys with much less talent. Its hard to tell how good of a recruiter he is. He's in Arkansas. Not a naturally furtile recruiting ground & very few people want to move there. I don't think even Saban could recruit that well there.
Also Texas, Memphis, UT and US ( LSU ) pull a few of ARK's decent players. but yeah I got to agree with your theory, economics in ARK is pretty dismal, maybe except for the Little Rock area itself.
