This one could open a whole new can of worms. Apparently, a company in LA "delivers" Juco players to certain schools, then profits from scheduling the schools to play each other.
The ringleader school is Iowa State, but Iona is a big player... even La Tech, Nevada and Kentucky get mentioned.

Of course, Hawkeyes love it when "lil sis gets in trouble.

OK, let me see if I've got this. LACC gets its players signed with D1 schools. Then, this D1 Scheduling firm (started by the LACC coach, who says he's no longer involved), offers to help these same schools schedule games, for a price. The price is roughly the same they would have had to pay these schools to come play. D1 makes the schedule (also schools that have signed LACC players), paying them out of their fee. So we have some schools lazy enough to trust their scheduling to an outside party, other schools foolish enough to take far less money for a road game than they could have had, and a creative Juco coach who, to quote the story,"turned a business without a market into a profit of at least $150,000 ." I can see where a lot of people will be embarassed, and I can see where the NCAA will be furious, (and will probably sue) because someone found a way to make money off their product. Other than that, what's the big deal, unless someone alleges that the LACC players, or the coaches of the teams that recruited them, unfairly profited from this operation?

I think the trouble here is the connection between sending players to certain schools, then profiting from that action. If DI Scheduling was just in the business of scheduling, then I would agree.

"I can get you two good juco kids, but this is what I want in return" reeks of collusion.

Or... in Kentucky's case.... Iona says "we can fill your slot, but you HAVE TO use this company to get us" would suggest that Iona has some special arrangement with the LA company in return for juco players signing with them.
    That would be a no-no.

Thanks for sharing this. It does sound fishy, doesn't it? Makes you wonder just how much of this goes on "behind the scenes". Good luck in the tourney, Hawker. You've always been a class act on this forum. You know I have to root for NWST (home team) but I really hope you guys do well!
