It is unbelievable the amount of negativity aimed at Coach Saban from so many fans on this board! Loyalty is a two-way street. Here is a coach that came to LSU and absolutely re-built the "sleeping giant" that we all believed LSU football was and now realize is. He came with a plan to resurrect LSU - football complex, academic center, etc., etc., and he carried out that plan. Now as we look for a new coach, the giant is awake, and LSU is in a terrific position to attract a top-level head coach to continue what Coach Saban has started. And yes, the LSU administration deserves immense credit for stepping up and delivering - the next coach will surely see the commitment. Bottom line, Coach Saban delivered a national championship to LSU, the first in nearly half a century, came back to defend the title, and now leaves LSU in GREAT shape for the future. And he and his family have earned this opportunity to move to the next stage of their lives with gratitude and well-wishes from LSU fans. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion; however, realize where the LSU football program is at today as compared to 1999 when Coach Saban came here...

Why is it unbelievable? Don't you know what kind of idiots lurk on message boards? Look for it to get worse before it gets better.

Are you surprised?!?!?! We're HURT! We're PISSED!!! ...do I think I'll continue to go on a "Saban-bashing" spree? No...but right now, like others, I'm venting like no other.

It's Christmas Day, and we feel like we just got shat on!

For those that remain "Pro-Saban", you'll have to excuse my negativity towards him right now. I've ALWAYS been LSU first. I thank Saban for what he's done, and the current state he's left our program, but after this bowl game, he's not a Tiger any longer, so I don't feel any devotion and or loyalty towards him in any other uniform other than an LSU one. That's just me. It's not like he retired. It's not like we fired him. He ditched us on Christmas. That's a sour taste to try to rid your mouth of....

I agree. I'll always be grateful for his time here and I wish him well in the NFL. I won't be a Dolphins fan but I will be a Saban fan. I want him to succeed in the NFL; certainly don't want him to bomb out and return to the college ranks at another school. Better he remain in the NFL now that he is there.

    Guess you are right...

I am new to this site and had to register and post (that was my first) after reading some of the hate aimed at Coach Saban. Not really surprising, just had to comment.

Why? Make me understand? Because he left? Saban's a big boy and is entitled to run his life the way he sees fit. Think about what he's done for LSU. You should be on your knees thanking him and wishing him well.

I don't owe you an explanation. You like him? You support him? Fine. I react a little differently. Agree with me or not, but I respect your opinion of him....it's just NOT mine.

We are all disappointed. And no one owes anyone an explanation. I wish a lot about this situation could be different. Just wanted to express my opinion in an effort to remind everyone of the celebration we experienced a recently as January with the NC and going to 4 straight New Year's Day bowls. Now LSU won't be scraping for a Pat Sullivan, Gerry DiNardo or Curley Hallman. Instead we're talking about the top coaches available in CFB and even some NFL coaches.

thanks for all you have done for LSU & the state of Louisiana! Best of luck in Miami. I just worry that he might fall on his face/burn-out like so many other college turn pro coaches....especially one who is running EVERYTHING!! I guess time will tell if it was the "right" choice, but thanks again & good-luck Coach!
