UNT looks to reschedule LSU game Oct. 29 appears to be best option, but hurdles still remain 08:37 PM CDT on Saturday, September 3, 2005 By BRETT VITO / Denton Record-Chronicle North Texas and the Sun Belt Conference have examined scenarios to reschedule the Mean Green's game at LSU only to arrive back at square one – a three-team switch, UNT athletic director Rick Villarreal said Saturday. UNT and LSU postponed their season opener scheduled for Saturday because of Hurricane Katrina. The plan includes the following: •UNT and LSU would reschedule their game for Oct. 29; •UNT would move its game against Louisiana-Monroe to Nov. 19, a bye week for the Mean Green; •La.-Monroe would push back its game against Louisiana-Lafayette from Nov. 19 to Nov. 26. La.-Monroe athletic director Bobby Staub said late Friday he would look at options, but that the switch would be problematic because it would leave the team with consecutive open weeks. If the game is not made up, UNT would need to make $500,000 the school would receive for playing LSU, Villareal said. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/090405dnspountlede.2c6acac.html SO...IT LOOKS AS THOUGH THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THE GAME MIGHT NOT BE PLAYED AT ALL..............
How's that gonna work? We need to play 11 regular season games right? I'm sure these people will figure something out that is at the best intrest of all parties.
it appears everything at this time hinges on NLU (I refuse to call them Louisiana Monroe). I am sure LSU would be able to play 10 games and still be bowl eligible. only those chosing to bitch about it (USC and Auburn fans) will have something to say.
We don't have to play North Texas. Any school that has the same bye week as us would be willing to pick up the $500,000 for one game in Tiger Stadium.
Who says LSU has to play 11 games? I've heard of maximum game limits and of minimum win limits to be bowl eligible, but I've never heard of having to play 11 games. Besides, if LSU goes to Atlanta, you have your 11 games right there. I have no heartburn over not making that game up. It's not a conference game. Look at the bright side: LSU's strength of schedule goes up...LOL.
D1-A Teams with an open date on Oct. 29th... Of these I would love to see Iowa, because they are just a good tough team to play, and ND because I hate them and I would love to see them lose. I think this would be a great oppurtunity to arrange a home-and-home with Iowa. Or we can go for a cupcake. During the AU game, abc had at the bottom of the screen 'MON' next to LSU vs NT. This was witnessed by my brother and cousins. We have been on the road today, watching West Monroe play it's season opener. I am guessing that it was a mistake by abc due to the fact that I can find nothing about it. Did anyone else notice this? Edit: never mind, I found the other thead. Damn, would have been nice.
Now check this out. I know it is proably a mistake but the countdown to kickoff clock shows LSU kicking off Tuesday night, on LSUsports.net
