What do LSU and USC have in common? Both have just one national championship in the past 28 years and both have 11 wins this year. Why do USC fans complain about the down knee? 1. VY's knee was down. But so what? UT was driving easily, as they did throughout the game. They would have had it 1st and goal from the 8? Easy score. Plus they probably wouldn't have missed the extra point because they rushed it, so the play would not be reviewed. 2. Texas was robbed of a clear INT near the end of the 2nd half. Wipe away USC's 3 points at the end (a momentum shift). Texas also would have had a VERY good chance of scoring had the refs made the right call there. Could have easily been 23-7 Texas going into half if that call is made right. 3. USC was holding all night long. Especially that convict Winston Justice. USC held obviously on at least 9 plays that I saw. Not one USC holding call. 4. Key 3rd down in the 3rd quarter there was an obvious blatant block in the back that ended up giving USC a TD on the drive. Would have been held to a punt if that call is right. Reggie Push the best player in CFB? Why was he on the sideline on 4th and 2 with the championship on the line? LOL. Refs tried to give USC the game with a very generous spot. Leinert showed his class (and poor grammar) at the end with tears in his eyes saying, "We're still better than them." Carroll's arrogance cost them the game going for it on 4th and 2. Carroll will lose control of this team in the offseason and next year. They are a bunch of spoiled babies who are tasting defeat. Where's your god now, ESPN? I might be happier about this game than LSU's thumping of Miami. That's how angry I am at USC and the media.
I had never seen a ref use his foot to mark the trailing edge of the ball. Must be an espn, I mean pac10 thing.
i said at the time reggie bush's fumble due to his arrogance was gonna bite the bath-house booty boys in the end and it did. add to that, i was thinking the same before petey decided to go for it on that last 4th down attempt. if you know anything about him and this team you knew it was gonna happen. there was never a doubt. arrogance was the leading cause to this loss. too much success in anything often causes this in all walks of life. just shocked it took this long on such a big stage. 34 wins is impressive. I think bush ended up with a better yards per carry average than lendale surprisingly enough though he was on the sideline which makes it look even worse for arrogant petey. sleep well trojanites and trojanettes.
I still don't understand what they were thinking when they went for it on 4th down and 2? They should have kicked that FG. And Texas had no business going for it on 4th and 1 as the game opened and they were at midfield. But no matter how you slice it, it was a great game. I enjoyed it and I really enjoyed USuCk losing this one. yep, we both have one crystal ball in the BCS era. Time to move on. oh, and the So.Cal. honks out here after the game (FSN West) were saying that USuCk is still in a good position to win the title next year. Ah, let the fun begin.
USC would have had to punt on 4th and 2. Probably still should have punted, but not having confidence that USC's D could stop Young and Texas is understandable. Questioning Texas going for it on 4th and 1 at the 50 is more nit picking and second guessing after the fact than anything else in my opinion. I didn't think that was such a terrible decision.
From 2000 to present, they have the EXACT win / loss record!! Bet the folks on Espin never mention that.
