I would like to see Crowton use Trindon a little more conspiculously (is that a word?). In the VT game, I believe the majority of the time he came in, he got the ball. If we just put him out wide as a decoy on some plays, the D-back has to stay with him every step and will probably get some help from the free safety. This opens up room to more recievers or other plays in the D-backfield. I say do this maybe 4-5 times and then throw it to him. We made it look to ovious against VT, but hey maybe thats what they want to do.
I got a feeling that's what they're setting him up for. Later in the season, everytime a team sees him come in, they're gonna think it's a run to the sideline, or a draw, or whatever the case.. so they will pay a little more attention to him.. When they do, BANG...LaFell or Doucet for a 60 yard TD.. Or, bring him out as a receiver and hope for a mismatch of speed on coverage (should be easy to get a mismatch there right?)... My goodness there's soo many weapons on this team it's hard to wrap your head around the many many different ways to use them.. Right now I can assure you that every team on our schedule is trying to figure out how to counter our offense (not to mention the D) and they're all coming to the same conclusion... they're screwed.. :thumb:
They're either holding him back for later games which makes little sense or they have no idea how to use him. He would be a killer on the bubble screen and on fake reverses would really take the flow of the defense with him away from the play. They basically used him as a running back on consecutive plays late in the game against VT. Listening to Crowton and Miles talk in the off season I expect they have a lot more of Trindon that they have not shown to the competition.
I think they know exactly what they're doing. They not only gave him the ball everytime he was in the VT game...but Moo U as well. I think they're doing it with the intention of using him later as a decoy. In order to be a decoy, people have to think he's actually gonna get the ball...at least I think that's how it works. The only way for that to happen is to give him the ball everytime he's in the game for a couple of games.:thumb:
I think it will be a Skyler Green type play. Run gangbusters to the endzone, and look back for the ball.
You're probably right except the bump and run might put him out of action. I think Crowton knows exactly what he's doing. Take for example, Perriloux's sprint out pass for a TD. He ran the ball every play he was in the game. So that's why the safety was up at the line, to stop the run, and Doucet just trots into the endzone.
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. It's really a very cagey strategy if they can keep it up all year long. Of course, once the bad guys catch Trindon, you gotta worry for his safety. Anyone remember the VT LB tossing him like a rag doll last Saturday along the sideline? He can't weigh more than a buck-fifty...
The word you're looking for is inconspicuously, meaning less obvious. And yes, I agree. He may be doing that now though, as teams review film and it's only natural for defenders to react when they see that little ball of speed on the field, and headed towards the ball.
