The Houston Comet's web site announced Van Chancellor resigned as head coach yesterday. Dandy Don had a link to the story. Does that mean Chancellor will be coming to Baton Rouge to head up the Ladies' Basketball program. LSU says they will hire someone by Thursday.

It sure looks that way. Van Chancellor is the only serious outside-of-LSU candidate I've seen mention of.

Looks and smells like a done deal. He has won 4 championships at Houston.

Would be a great hire if it happens. I hope the Ladies win it all this year so we can repeat next year.

yeah, i've heard that he's coming. i think it's great getting a coach as known and as respected as he is but his age (63, i think) seems to be a detriment when it comes to recruiting. who knows, one could say it's a positive b/c of his name and experience. but i feel like we're hiring joe pa. i hope he plans to coach for a while.

Is it bad that I've never heard of him? A quick search says that he's won 4 titles with the Houston WNBA team, which says that he knows how to take a dominant team and make them execute continually. 4 straight years, and we have yet to go to the title game. Perhaps this is the key we're missing?

If we hire him, do you think he'll keep CBS?

I'd actually be more worried if you knew who he was... which would mean you regularly watched the WNBA.

I think if he's hired he should bring Cythina Cooper as an assistant coach plus she should help with recruiting also.
