Vandy's Baseball Coach Corbin has INTEGRITY

    http://www.nashvillecitypaper.com/index.cfm?section=7&screen=news&news_id=56211

With tonights series between LSU & Vandy, Nashville's City Pager runs this story today about Coach Corbin being recruited last year by LSU and two years ago by Auburn. He talks about why he turned down the LSU job to stay at Vandy. It's nice to hear a coach talk about keeping his word to his players and not chasing money. He has a great program going on here in Nashville and a top facility. You can tell his players understand and embrace his commitment and integrity. A very different breed from Million Dollar Boy Satan.

That is one of the reasons we went after him.

he was the one i wanted last year and i really thought we would get him.

but i'm pleased so far with maineri. i think he's a good coach and a good human being and needs to build the program back by recruiting qulaity players.

same here. i think hes the best coach in the sec. not only that, hes the best recruiter in the country. he gets players to turn down texas and LSU to go to vandi. top shelf pitchers. gets the top recruiting classes year in and year out name pitching which is where you build programs.

check out the number of pitchers skip built our program with compared to the pitchers we have sent since. not many. yet byrd and springer are still there. says a lot.

Not only does Corbin get players to turn down Texas and LSU, but he also gets them to turn down the MLB. One of most difficult parts of recruiting high school baseball players is knowing that there is always the possibility of them getting drafted and signing a contract with an MLB team rather than going to college in the first place, even for just a couple of years. Corbin has managed to get players such as Pedro Alvarez (2006 National Freshman of the Year) and Mike Minor (Freshman Starting Pitcher) to turn down lucrative professional deals, and they will be better players because of it.
