Just a quick note from a Hokie that came to Baton Rouge to enjoy a great day of tailgating and a good game -- well 1 outta 2 ain't bad. Thanks for the respect. There were 7 of us that were basically hosted by a couple of LSU fans that I met via a sugar bowl ticket purchase -- great people. I absolutely loved the Tiger Bait interchanges and almost every fan acted in a manner which I would be proud if they were Hokies. The few that didn't were quickly put under control by fellow LSU fans. You were absolutely the best. We had a fantastic time. Now, supposedly, there were injuries and misdeeds by VT fans in Bburg upon you Tigers in 2004; I found that news appalling. It is with great reverence and humility that I apologize for such poor behavior. I should hope that no Hokie would ever have allowed such behavior then; certainly, I cannot believe it would ever happen again. I don't know how much of it was true or to what degree, but it seems certain that there was some unacceptable breach of honor and etiquette -- both of which you Tiger fans showed with great abundance and alacrity this past weekend. Wishing you the best on the way to the Sugar Bowl. If ya make it, I have promised to come to New Orleans for a 5th time -- this week and 3 VT Sugar Bowls -- to see LSU fight for a 2nd National Championship (pete carroll who??) Thanks again for all the hospitality. Ya'll might not know it, but this is one Hokie that loved every bit of walking the 'Tiger Bait' gauntlet to our tailgating spot -- and, if any of you on this forum shared food or drink with me -- or shared some of my WILD TURKEY -- well it was some kind of fun. The game.....well, that was another story. Peace. And, football, of course. --hokie visitor aka Stressfreelivin P.S. If I have time, I might even post a few pics......
What an awesome post! Thanks and the Football Team and Tiger Fans can not wait to see you in NO at the Sugar Bowl! :crystal: (Pour some Suga on US)
Thanks! I cant tell you how great it is to hear that a visitor had a great time. See AU, OM, SC- we're not that bad!
SFL, That's about as FINE a visiting fan post as has ever been on our little patch of cyber space!!! We're glad you mostly had a good time, and if somebody had to lose, we're GLAD IT WAS THE HOKIES! :hihi: Hang out over here if you wanna talk some football, you can just come back at bowl season if you want. We've collected an interesting smattering of good sports we've played. Thanks for your gracious comments, and good luck the rest of the season!
Thanks for posting your gracious message and good luck to your Hokies and your freshman (I think) QB. He looked damn good and showed remarkable poise in Tiger Stadium.
(-lkr-t) n. 1. Cheerful willingness; eagerness. 2. Speed or quickness; celerity. this will come in handy when i retake the asvab. you and deceks need to get in a word-off.
Stick around. You will find good discussion here. We love to have other fan's insight into things. Glad you enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately there are going to be fans who don't treat visitors with the respect they deserve. I personally am trying to teach my own children and the friends they bring to the game that they should NEVER make the opposing fans leave LSU with a negative experience at their expense. I always follow a TIGERBAIT near our tailgate with an invitation for food, drink, seat , shade etc.
Yea, I think I will continue to post and keep up with my gracious hosts. I think that when I have time, I'll check in with ya to see how that SEC football is doing. Actually, I am a college football freak and might even know a thing or two about your 2 deeps and recruits. I am still waiting to see a post from someone who saw some Wild Turkey being tasted by an LSU fan -- given the way I missed the pain of the game, I'd guess there were about '20 sharing episodes' from one of my multiple bottles. Ha... I guess I would be remiss in my posting responsibilities if I did not mention that I saw a former VT girlfriend (still looking good) last weekend who is now a Professor at LSU? Of what you say? Well, she hates football, plays the piano and teaches Molecular Genetics; now what could she see in a football loving, tailgating, bourbon chugging ol boy like me???? Did I mention how good a time it was in La? I think this forum might be almost as much fun as the lots. Last thing before I get back to work. I am thinking about taking the 41 points in the 'chump, fluff game' since Spurrier is coming next: any thoughts from those who like to play the game within the game?? sfl hokie
