I am seeing a lot of posts about the possibility of LSU playing Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl and I think I would be remiss as a fan of both teams not to address this possibility. Most of the posts I am seeing are about how dissapointed everyone would be about this matchup. As an LSU fan I have to warn all in Tiger Nation that if this matchup happens, and make no mistake about this, the Tigers will be in for a serious game from a very talented team. I am a Tiger fan first, I grew up in La, but I have been living in Hawaii for about 12 years now and have been following the local team as well. We(LSU) seem to have trouble in pass coverage and getting pressure on the QB. IMHO those two shortcomings would be disastrous against the Hawaii offense. Especially if Brennan is on his game. The shortcoming for Hawaii in the past is that we(Hawaii) have been quite lax defensively. We(Hawaii) are improving in that area lately. We(Hawaii) still give up a lot of points but not like we used to. This post is a warning only, not to take Hawaii too lightly. In no way do I think that we(Hawaii) are more talented than us(LSU). Having said that, no one in the nation thought Boise State was as talented as Oklahoma last year and look what happened. I am mauitiger and I approve this message. (knowing full well that it rates a 9.5 out of 10 on the flame potential meter.) I invite RATIONAL discussion on this subject. What the heck, I'll take on irrational as well.
I agree and even posting as much- I think they'd give us hell in our secondary and people would see just how good Colt Brennan is. I say he at least makes the trip to NY. The time zone wouldn't be AS big a factor as a "Normally" scheduled game cause they would come in several days before- course the NOLA nightlife might catchup too.
I spoke with you earlier in the season about Hawaii's chances of running the table. I've gotta tell you after watching them this weekend vs. Boise, I would definitely be worried about playing them. Not only do they have a good passing game, that tailback is a beast. I would say after watching both teams play AS OF LATE, that it probably be a 50/50 chance of the Warriors upsetting the Tigers. Sad but true.
I don't disagree with you at all. If LSU does go to the Sugar Bowl and face Hawaii, I could see us losing that game. That's if the same defense we had the past several games shows up. On the other hand, LSU has destroyed its two bowl opponents under Miles. I think the month off does LSU wonders. The only difference this year is all the speculation we're gonna here concerning Miles/Michigan.
Not exactly Zydeco but they'll bring something different to NOLA. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQhHGkmGSBA
THAT is something that I did not even consider. Wow, big bowl game, it would be the first trip for a lot of Tongans, Fijians, and Hawaiians to a big city, all the hoopla. BIG distraction. Be a challenge for CJJ.
