I was just reading http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2960812 and in this article it said this: "Perrilloux was considered the top high school quarterback prospect in the country when then-LSU coach Nick Saban persuaded him to join the Tigers." Now I could be mistaken, but I was always under the impression that Perrilloux didnt commit till long after Saban had left and was indeed a Tiger commit by Miles' hand. Am I wrong?
Perrilloux did not consider LSU until Saban was gone, he was a Texas commitment until Miles signed him.
LINK - I wouldn’t call this only reason, but it had to have been a big part of it. From January 31, 2005:
Very true! RP was NOT going to sign with LSU had Saban stayed. RP is strictly a CLM recruit...Saban should not be getting any credit for RP. I mean, the fact that the article even MENTIONED Saban in connection with RP has me more than angry. When Saban left--and for most of the recruiting process mind you--RP was a Texas commitment.
I recall that RP's mom didn't like Saban. At the time, she said something like "this bastard is just the kind of guy who will probably take an NFL job then bail on them and end up back in the SEC coaching against my son."
We really need to continue to get behind our Coach Les Miles. He is committed to our football program and continues to get knocked. The guy gets no respect from just about anywhere. I am more passionate about our program now more then ever. I'm focused on our team, our school and our fans. To heck with what anyone else thinks. Let's win it all this year! The press and other schools can say whatever they want. :geauxtige
