1. I think Russell is the most talented QB to ever come out of LSU and would put him in the top 10 most talented players out of LSU.

    :geauxtige
  2. Y.A. Tittle is in the Hall of Fame. Russell has a long, long way to go to match him. Bert Jones is ahead of him, too. Russell is young and talented and has a ton of potential, but it is way too early to call him the best QB ever to come out of LSU.

  3. I agree with you and that is why i just said he is the most talented. Doesnt mean he will be the best qb because YA and Bert were GREAT NFL qbs. In 15 years we can see how Russell's NFL career plays out and then compare him to YA and Bert..
  4. Dont go by stars. People were lining up at Williamson High since he was a Freshman. Every recruiter knew he was at the top or near it.
  5. At the risk of giving away my age, I would like to remind one and all of the presence on the LSU pantheon of football greats of a kid named Steve Van Buren who was a phenom not only in college but one of the ALL TIME GREAT pro players who is often overlooked by today's younger sports writers. And he did it playing both ways.

  6. Cannon was also on the track team. He ran the 100 and threw the shotput. That probably makes him either the world's fastest shotputter or the world's strongest sprinter.
  7. he's up there. cant compare to guys like cassanova that played great on both sides of the ball or even mawae who played every line position. also have to include faneca, thomas. cant overlook these lineman!
  8. I say it's very early. But he has the potential of becoming the GREATEST QB EVER!!! YES, I SAID IT. Show me one QB who had everything like Russell. Unmatched arm strength, laser accuracy, a size that can match DEs, the ability to avoid sacks, the ability to make plays under pressure, the ability to scramble and roll from the pocket and throw the ball while on the move with incredible accuracy. I think people are under estimating JaMarcus, he's got it all. I dont think he lacks any aspect of becoming the greatest, the only thing he has to do is work for it. And if anyone is going to bring up the intelligence thing, Im going to .......:angryfire Everyone who has worked with him said he is very intelligent, one of the few players that you only say something once to him and never have to repeat it ever again.
  9. I thought he was a 4* im pretty sure that he was anyway
  10. You can't get past the fact that players have gotten bigger all along, all the players. Sure Russell is always going to be bigger than any other top LSU quarterback. But in the other things you mention -- unmatched arm strength, laser accuracy, the ability to avoid sacks, the ability to make plays under pressure, the ability to scramble and roll from the pocket and throw the ball while on the move -- Bert Jones and Y.A. Tittle were those things in their day. They were unmatched among their peers. You would need to see all three play to know who was best against his competition. I've only seen Bert Jones and Russell and I rate them about even. I never saw Tittle, except on TV as a child, but he was the best in the game in his prime.
