AU Practice report It always is cause for concern when a coach is saying they're focusing on their own problems rather than gaming the team ahead, at least, with only 2 preparation days remaining. It's also cause for concern if your starting QB is rumored to be incapable of throwing midway through the week. Is Auburn a better team than they have shown, or will LSU's considerable talent finally gel under Miles? IMHO, this is a dangerous game to wager given the uncertainties and the lack of identities that these two teams continue to search for. Maybe the over/under will be a little more interesting once it is released.
LSU Report "it will be our desire to not let any opponent come into tiger stadium and step on our trademark. we will defend our stadium with our play. I understand what happened." --les miles 2 seconds ago. translation: prepare for an azzwhooping and a check to be cashed that tubby has endorsed.
true analysis of the what will happen in this game... the AU running game WILL be shut down... simple as that... The LSU front 7 are just too damn good.... so the game will be put on Cox's shoulders and I don't think he will be able to stand up to the pressure of the LSU D and the noise of tiger stadium...
AU has a really good defense, so far as I've seen. Despite the quality defense AU has, I relly do not see them being able to stop LSU, especially not at LSU. LSU's offense is capable of putting up huge numbers. LSU could have very easily hung 40+ pts on Florida, whose defense is comparable in talent to AU. The game last week was not a "defensive struggle" as the national media has portrayed it. The turnovers/stupid penalties simply cannot continue with all the focus the coaching staff has placed on it this week. I think LSU wins by 3 TDs, minimally. This week LSU serves notice to the rest of college FB.
The Tube is saying that Auburn is going too try to win by not making the kind of mistakes that LSU has made this year. All they really have to do is play conservative and wait for LSU to gve them opportunities with turnovers and penalties. LSU has been ahead in every game this year but has not developed the "killer instinct" to put an opponent away. They keep fouling up and letting the other team back in the game. Let us hope that Auburn brings out the this instinct in the Tigers.
He said that? My opinion of Mr. Miles goes up another notch. Enough of the BS, enough of the turnovers/bad schemes/"where's my wife?"/trucker hats/flimsy headphones...time to make a statement, much the way the 2003 game served as a "statement". Run 'em out of the stadium, Coach. :thumb:
Color me skeptical, but if LSU couldn't score 40 on Mississippi State, Vandy, or Arizona State, what makes you believe they could've rung up 40 on Florida? And, as for UF's defense being equal to that of AU's, well, that's simply hogwash. There are many compelling arguments that can be made that provide favor for LSU in this game, but there's really no evidence to substantiate the claim that AU's defense is as bad as UF's. Likewise, UF's defense is no more comparible to Auburn's than it is to LSU's. It would take a radical improvement in LSU's OL play (over their play against UF) to offset AU's defense, and the same may be said for the O-line play for AU also. Special teams and turnovers...... special teams and turnovers.....
40 is probably a bit high, but we did manage to get 21 with 5 turnovers. So, without those you could be looking at the upper 30's. I think UF has a good defense - most people would agree to that. Auburn's is still probably better, but you haven't exactly played any offensive juggarnauts (sp), so it's really tough to tell. You have the talent & you showed last year that you could put it together, so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.
